Bleach: TYBW Part 4 Episode 7 Officially Fixes a 10-Year-Old Plot Hole

Bleach: TYBW Part 4, also known as Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity, has finally reached the point where its anime-original additions can start changing how the manga’s controversial ending is understood. Episode 7 does exactly that by giving Uryu Ishida’s Antithesis a clearer connection to The Almighty, potentially answering a question fans have had for a decade.

Released on August 1, 2016, Bleach Chapter 684, Blade, saw Uryu Ishida successfully shoot the Still Silver Arrow at Yhwach. However, it was strange because Yhwach, with his Almighty powers, could see and alter the future. Not only did the latest episode’s explanation “fix” the plot hole, but it also dropped a fascinating clue to it involving Mimihagi, Shunsui, and Ukitake. Put together, these details could completely reframe how Yhwach’s defeat plays out.

Bleach: Uryu’s Antithesis Finally Explains the Still Silver Arrow

The manga’s final battle always had one awkward question hanging over it. Yhwach’s Almighty lets him see countless possible futures and alter the future itself. Yet, when Uryu fired the Still Silver arrow, Yhwach was unable to simply avoid it. The arrow struck him and briefly stopped his powers, giving Ichigo the opening he needed to land the decisive blow. The manga explained what Still Silver did, but it never really addressed the more immediate problem: why could Yhwach not see the attack coming and change the outcome?

Episode 7 now gives us a very interesting answer. Yhwach attempts to erase Uryu’s arrow from the future, but the attack still reaches him. The implication is that Antithesis can interfere with the very outcome The Almighty is trying to establish. Uryu’s Schrift reverses something that has already occurred between two targets, and the anime appears to push that concept further by letting him overturn a future Yhwach has already selected. This also fits with Haschwalth’s earlier warning that Antithesis might be the one ability capable of stopping Yhwach. More importantly, the anime is no longer asking viewers to accept the arrow as a lucky accident; it is showing how Yhwach’s control over the future can actually be challenged.

That makes the Still Silver moment feel far less like a convenient opening. Instead, Uryu’s power may be the reason the opening could exist at all. Still Silver would still be responsible for temporarily stopping Yhwach’s powers, but Antithesis could be what makes sure the arrow actually connects. And Uryu’s feats in the latest episode have officially mended the 10-year-old plot hole.

Shunsui and Ukitake May Have Set Up Yhwach’s Final Weakness

The second possibility is even more speculative, but Episode 7 gives us enough pieces to start connecting them. Ukitake’s death in the previous episode is presented with an unusual sense of peace, and Shunsui’s reaction to what follows feels almost too composed. Then Episode 7 has Shunsui carry Mimihagi into the situation before Yhwach ultimately absorbs the Soul King’s right arm through Auswählen. Later, Yhwach’s Almighty cloak features an eye-like pattern that strongly recalls Mimihagi’s own distinctive eye.

That makes us wonder whether Ukitake and Shunsui were playing a much longer game. Mimihagi is the Soul King’s right arm and governs stillness, and canonically, Yhwach’s Almighty could not properly perceive Mimihagi when it first intervened after the Soul King’s death. Yhwach even wondered how it had escaped his sight. If Mimihagi can exist outside the future Yhwach sees, deliberately allowing it to be absorbed could potentially plant something inside Yhwach that The Almighty cannot completely control.

Mimihagi’s interference in the final battle seems more than a possibility now, and the pieces are strangely convenient. Ukitake sacrifices himself, Shunsui helps move Mimihagi into Yhwach’s reach, and Yhwach absorbs it despite its earlier ability to evade his sight. If Mimihagi’s power of stillness somehow survives inside him, it could provide the missing interference that allows Uryu’s Still Silver arrow to hit.

That would make the finale feel less like one lucky shot and more like the culmination of a plan that began with Ukitake’s sacrifice. Uryu could provide the ability to bypass The Almighty, while Mimihagi creates the opening and Still Silver shuts Yhwach’s powers down. Undoubtedly, Episode 7 has laid the solid basis for the finale.
