Black Clover: 5 Strongest Characters Just Below God-Tier, Ranked

Black Clover features many exceptional characters whose abilities put them on the God-tier. However, just below them are some characters who have mastered their magic to an expert level but still have limitations that prevent them from reaching the god-tier; these characters are still crucial in turning the tables in fights.

This ranking considers combat feats, magical abilities, transformations, and performances against powerful enemies. Here are the five strongest characters just below god-tier level, ranked.

5 Nacht Faust: The Ultimate Devil Union Strategist

Nacht Faust, the vice captain of Black Bulls, is introduced in the later arc of the story. He is a versatile Magic Knight thanks to his contracted four devils called Gimodelo, Slotos, Plumede, and Walgner. Nacht can perform the devil union with all his devils, separately, with two, with three, and all at once, with different powers.

Nacht showcased his abilities against the Supreme Devils like Lilith and Naamah. Not only did he manage to delay them, but he could also trap them with the Monument of Atonement. However, the devils eventually broke free, demonstrating the limits of Nacht’s abilities. Like others on the list, Nacht hasn’t demonstrated his dominance against stronger opponents.

4 Nozel Silva: The Tactical Mastermind of Mercury Magic

Nozel Silva is the captain of the Silver Eagle Magic Knights and can use Mercury magic. One of the toughest Magic Knights, Nozel can manipulate mercury in any shape and size to use it to make defensive and offensive weapons with extreme precision.

Nozel is fourth on the list because he is faster, a good tactician in battle, has a larger mana pool, and also demonstrated his ability against Megicula, proving he can challenge powerful devils. However, he doesn’t have an elemental spirit like Fuegoleon.

3 Fuegoleon Vermillion: The Power of Fire and Salamander

Fuegoleon Vermillion, the captain of the Crimson Lion Kings, is one of the strongest fire magic users and also the master fire elemental spirit, Salamander. The spirit exponentially increased his offensive powers, which was demonstrated when he fought against the elf-possessed vice captain and a captain, Randall Luftair and Kaiser Granvorka, respectively.

Fuegoleon ranks third, as he has raw destructive power and combat experience, and he holds back a large number of enemies. However, Yami’s Arcane Stage Dark Magic and ability to cut through dimensions give him a greater advantage against exceptionally powerful opponents.

2 Yami Sukehiro: The Ultimate Counter-Striker

Yami is the captain of the Black Bulls and is one of the strongest Magic Knights in anime. His Arcane Stage class also allows him to damage enemies that simple mages can’t defeat, making him the trump card in every fight. But he still lacks reality-changing abilities to be god-tier.

Yami is ranked second on the list because he can cut space itself, and his Ki mastery also improves his reactions, allowing him to counter most physical attacks. However, Yami has magical and physical limitations that Mereoleona seems to have none of.

1 Mereoleona Vermillion: The Peak of Human Mastery

Mereoleona Vermillion, older sister to Fuegoleon and Leopold, is the strongest human in Black Clover. She has mastered fire magic, mana zone, and combat with her own hellish training that she has demonstrated in several arcs.

Mereoleona takes the top position because her Hellfire Incarnate techniques take her to the next level by surrounding her body with flames and continuously increasing her destructive potential. Additionally, her mentality to fight till her dying breath or until her entire mana is finished makes her the most dangerous on the list.
