Blood Hunt brings a lot of new moving parts compared to the PvE Zombies mode that came before it in Marvel Rivals: more complex horde compositions, escalating Nightmare tiers, bosses that hit like freight trains, and a build system deep enough to eat an afternoon. It takes some figuring out, but it rewards the effort.
Moon Knight is one of the best heroes to bring into it, and it’s not particularly close. He’s a true all-rounder who handles both horde clearing and boss damage without needing to compromise either, which is why he and Squirrel Girl (check out her best build here!) are consistently sitting at the top of the Blood Hunt leaderboard as of writing. Here’s everything you need to run the best version of him.
Best Gear for Moon Knight in Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt
Distance is the whole strategy. | Credits: NetEase Games/FandomWireThis is a ranged Ankh-focused build. The idea is to stay at a safe distance, keep those Ankhs deployed, and let your Crescent Darts do the heavy lifting while you stay out of range of anything that could kill you. Up close is where this build gets punished; at range, it barely gives enemies a fair chance.
Here’s the full gear breakdown for this build:
| Weapon | Scepter of Rites | • Crescent Dart base damage +X • Moonblade base damage +X |
| Armor | Runic Armor | • Health +X • Armor Value +X |
| Accessory | Alchemy Amulet | • Critical Hit Rate +X% • Block Rate +X% |
| Exclusive | Pendant of Oshtur | •Ankh charges and maximum on-field count +X •Ankh health +X, with 50% damage reduction; holding the ability key recalls an Ankh and restores a charge |
For the Extended Effects across the Weapon, Accessory, and Exclusive slots, follow this priority order:
- Precision Hit Rate
- Critical Hit Rate
- Precision Damage
- Critical Damage
- Waxing Moon Enhancement
- Lunar Glide Enhancement
- Total Output Boost
- Total Damage Bonus
- Bonus Damage against Bosses
For the Armor slot specifically, prioritize Health% > flat Health > Armor Value > Healing Rune Charge Slots.
Of course, the end goal here is to have a Level 60 Legendary rarity item across all four slots. Other than that, you must aim for a Precision Hit Rate of above 10% and a Critical Hit Rate of around 40% before stacking on as much Precision/Critical Damage as possible.
Precision Hits specifically are worth investing in on Moon Knight because the sheer speed at which you’ll be (automatically) firing Crescent Darts makes triggering them far more frequent than on most other heroes. As always, the game’s RNG will dictate what drops you actually see, so make sure to work with what you get and adjust on the fly.
Best Traits for Moon Knight in Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt
Right tree carries, left tree finishes. | Credits: NetEase Games/FandomWireMoon Knight’s Trait trees are Fist of the Moon God on the left and Phases of the Moon on the right. This build is almost entirely on the right tree, with just five points allocated to the left.
General Traits
Max out the following on the damage side, working top to bottom through the tree:
- Damage Bonus
- Output Amplification #1
- Cooldown Reduction
- Output Amplification #2
- Primary DMG Bonus
- Precision Rate
- Precision Damage
- Ultimate Boost
- Precision Damage Multiplier
And as always, investing a few points into Percentage Max Health (or whatever stat you’re not optimal with) is a good idea here, too, especially if your gear doesn’t already cover it well.
Ability Traits: Phases of the Moon Tree (Right)
This is the core of the build. Here’s the exact allocation you want by max level:
- Waxing Moon [3/3]
- Waning Moon [3/3]
- Moonlight Projection [3/3]
- Lunar Glide [3/3]
Lunar Glide is what makes the whole thing work; more on that in the tips section below.
Ability Traits: Fist of the Moon God Tree (Left)
You only need five points here, specifically for the ultimate:
- Fist of Khonshu [1/3]
- Moon God’s Chosen [1/3]
- Ankh Siphon [3/3]
These three improve how your ultimate interacts with your Ankh setup and are worth every point. The rest of the left tree can be ignored for this build.
One final note: if a gear drop comes with a substantial bonus tied to a trait not listed above, you can still grab that trait to activate the bonus. The RNG works in mysterious ways, and leaving a good Enhancement on the table may not always be the right call.

For your Arcane Realm, max out Scroll of Conquest and Scroll of Immortality before anything else. Scroll of Blessing and Scroll of Midas can follow once those are capped, since they help with gear quality but don’t affect your performance during a run as immediately.
For offensive (red cards) Common Arcana between phases, follow this priority order:
- Lethal Strike: Total Damage Bonus +X%
- First Blood: 30% Damage Bonus against Healthy Enemies
- Boss Hunter: X% Bonus Damage against Bosses
- Final Prey: Increases Ultimate Ability charge speed by 30%
For defensive (blue cards) picks:
- Iron Body: Gain X% Health Bonus
- Indomitable: Gain X% Damage Reduction
Lethal Strike is a take-every-time card. First Blood is especially strong here because most enemies in horde phases enter at full health, making it active for the majority of each engagement. Final Prey is the lower priority of the four offensive cards, but earns its spot given how strong your ultimate will be with this build.
Moon Knight Ankh Build: Tips & Tricks
Airborne, automatic, unstoppable. | Credits: NetEase Games/FandomWireThe build does a lot of the work for you, but knowing how to use it properly is the difference between a good run and a great one:
- The entire build is built around the Lunar Glide trait. Once unlocked, it makes your Crescent Darts fire automatically at nearby Ankhs whenever you’re airborne in Night Glider mode. You’re not just floating for survivability at that point; you’re literally dealing damage by simply existing in the air.
- Place as many Ankhs as possible around the center of the arena during horde phases. For bosses, place them directly on the boss. Then take to the air, stay in Night Glider mode, and let the Crescent Darts and Ankh bounces do their thing while you focus on staying alive and repositioning.
- Maximize your glider uptime by rotating between your double jump and grappling hook. The more time you spend airborne, the more damage you’re passively outputting. Use your ultimate whenever it’s available and repeat. It’s genuinely one of the more relaxed high-damage loops in the mode.
- The main threats to this build are the flying vampires, since they can reach you while you’re airborne. Keep track of them and don’t hesitate to ask a teammate to handle them on maps where the aerial threat is particularly heavy.

Now, before you set your sights on the Blood Hunt leaderboards, here’s a quick summary of our recommended Moon Knight Blood Hunt build at a glance:
| Weapon | Scepter of Rites (Precision Rate > Crit Rate > Precision DMG > Crit DMG) |
| Armor | Runic Armor (Health% > Health > Armor Value > Healing Rune Slots) |
| Accessory | Alchemy Amulet (Precision Rate > Crit Rate > Precision DMG > Crit DMG) |
| Exclusive | Pendant of Oshtur (Waxing Moon / Lunar Glide Enhancement) |
| Key Ability Traits | Waxing Moon, Waning Moon, Moonlight Projection, Lunar Glide, Ankh Siphon |
| Arcana | Lethal Strike > First Blood > Boss Hunter > Final Prey / Iron Body > Indomitable |
And finally, a few things worth clarifying about this build:
What does the core gameplay loop look like with this Moon Knight build in Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt?
Set up as many Ankhs as possible around the center of the arena, or stack them directly onto the boss for boss fights. Use your double jump and grappling hook to stay airborne in Night Glider mode. Your Crescent Darts will fire at the Ankhs automatically, use your ultimate whenever it’s up, and repeat. You’ll be doing what everyone else in the lobby is trying to do at a fraction of the effort.
Is the Pendant of Oshtur mandatory for this build?
It’s the highest-priority slot. More Ankhs on the field means more bounce targets for your Crescent Darts, and the 50% damage reduction on each Ankh keeps them intact long enough to matter. Getting a good roll with Waxing Moon or Lunar Glide Enhancement on it is the dream scenario.
Is Moon Knight viable for solo Nightmare runs in Blood Hunt?
Yes, and the leaderboard proves it. The combination of ranged safety, passive Ankh damage while airborne, and a strong ultimate that recharges frequently makes him one of the more self-sufficient heroes in the mode at the higher difficulties.
Is Squirrel Girl a better pick than Moon Knight for Blood Hunt?
They’re strong for different reasons. Squirrel Girl has the edge in pure crowd control and horde management, but Moon Knight pulls ahead on boss damage and overall ease of execution. If you’re playing solo, Moon Knight is probably the safer all-rounder pick. In a full squad, both are worth having.
