Avengers star Jeremy Renner may not be confirmed to return to the MCU soon, but he is definitely winning at the streaming charts with his Taylor Sheridan show. While the last four seasons of Mayor of Kingstown had a pretty good audience base on Paramount+, Mayor McLusky seems to have expanded his horizons on Netflix.
According to FlixPatrol, the dark thriller is in fifth place on Netflix. While the show landed on the streamer only in October, it seems to have been a hit with the audience. Taylor Sheridan has a large fanbase, and Mayor of Kingstown is heading towards its final season. The increase in numbers comes as a boon for the final season.
Taylor Sheridan Takes Over Netflix Too With Mayor of Kingstown
Jeremy Renner in Mayor of Kingstown | Credits: Paramount+Taylor Sheridan has been one of TV’s most successful creators since he made Yellowstone, which became Paramount+’s prized possession. The show lasted five seasons and spawned multiple spinoff shows, including the newly released Marshals, which has dominated the charts on the streamer. Sheridan has created other shows for the streamer as well.
One of his best creations is Jeremy Renner starrer, Mayor of Kingstown. The show follows Renner’s Mike McLusky, who uses his political powers to act as a power broker in a town that depends on the prison-industrial complex. The show has been appreciated for its performances and writing. It was one of the few Sheridan shows that is not a Western.
On October 8, FlixPatrol ranked Mayor of Kingstown fifth among TV shows on Netflix worldwide, with 253 points. That put it ahead of The Gentlemen, which is a Netflix original, and Matlock. The titles above it were East of Eden, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Not a Stranger, and Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story.
For a series that originally lived behind a different streaming paywall and has no new episodes to promote, that is a strong showing, and it makes the show one of the highest-placed crime dramas on the chart. The fact that it even surpassed a Netflix original like The Gentlemen season 2 means that Taylor Sheridan is the king of streaming-town.
Avengers Star Jeremy Renner’s Show Bows Out at Season 5

The Taylor Sheridan show was renewed for a fifth and final season back in January 2026, with a reduced 8-episode order. The season has already wrapped filming, having begun in March 2026 (via Paramount+).
The story should pick up several dangling threads from the fourth season. Kyle took brutal revenge on Merle Callahan for the murder of his wife, Ian won a lottery ticket and began thinking about leaving for Montana, Cindy was caught in a deadly gang war inside the prison infirmary, and Bunny took over Frank Moses’s Detroit-based depot empire. Several familiar characters will not return.
No premiere date has been announced, with the show expected to release at the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027. The Netflix deal seems to have worked out in the favor of the show, as the final season will have a larger viewership once it drops on Paramount+. It is a win-win for the streamer. It is a huge win for Taylor Sheridan.
While Jeremy Renner’s Avengers future remains unclear, as his Hawkeye might only turn up during Secret Wars, which releases in 2027, he will no doubt be till the end of his own show.
