The Spider-Man that Nicolas Cage is playing in Spider-Noir is not the same character that appeared in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While Nicolas Cage played a version of Peter Parker in the animated film, the character that he is going to play in Spider-Noir is actually Ben Reilly. The show is going to feature a different look at a slew of characters, much like Batman: Caped Crusader did for popular Batman characters.
A lot of classic and niche Spider-Man villains are going to make an appearance in the show, all updated (or downgraded?) to fit the 1930’s time period that the show is going to be set in. Nicolas Cage is going to be playing ‘the Spider’, an older, grizzled version of the character who is just coming out of retirement after a tragedy that shook his life. Here are some of the villains that are confirmed to be making his life worse, in true Spider-Man fashion.

Tombstone has usually taken a backseat when it comes to iconic Spider-Man villains. While characters like Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Mysterio grab all the glory, Tombstone isn’t even the first mob boss that comes to mind when talking about Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery.
However, Abraham Popoola has promised to bring the character to life in a manner that has never been done before. In a show that is going to spotlight a slew of niche Spider-Man villains, Tombstone seems to be getting a time-appropriate update (again, a downgrade?) to match the show’s setting.
Speaking about the character, executive producer Oren Uziel said, “[Tombstone is] different from the comics in the way I think all of these characters are going to be familiar but different. We’re in a world now where you can take the best parts of these characters and the characterizations that have come through Marvel and make them your own.”
A look behind the scenes that was published by the show saw the characters don period-appropriate costumes, with most villains in the show looking like they would be at home in Al Capone’s gang.
2 Cat Hardy- Li Jun Li Fuses Anna May Wong And Lauren Bacall

Cat Hardy, this universe’s version of Black Cat, is going to be played by Li Jun Li, who endeavors to create a character that takes inspiration from multiple 30s actresses, such as Anna May Wong, Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall, and Kim Basinger. Her relationship with this universe’s version of The Sandman is going to be immensely important to the story (as per IGN).
Jack Huston, who plays Flint Marko aka The Sandman, talked about the relationship that his character and Cat Hardy share, saying that it is “a very complex situation. I think they have a very deep bond, a special relationship. [It’s about] how far one’s willing to go for that and what you are willing to do. I think that sort of love triangle … exists within the show.”
The relationship that Cat Hardy and Flint Marko share in the show is an important one, as its existence is going to connect Ben Reilly with Silvermane, who is going to be an important character in the show.

Perhaps the most recognizable villain in the show, after Black Cat (some would argue more), Flint Marko is going to serve as a romantic interest for Cat Hardy. This version of the character would have served in the First World War, the horrors of which would be something that affects a lot of characters in the story. Similar to how the character was depicted in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, Sandman in this version of the story is also going to be sympathetic.
Regarding this, Uziel said, “He’s really a bit of a tortured soul. And for me, those make kind of the best villains. I really liked his struggle, and his particular powers, I think, are always compelling and sort of fun to watch as a viewer too.”
The character is going to be essayed by Jack Huston, who fans might know from Mayfair Witches, which stars Alexandra Daddario.
4 Silvermane- Brendan Gleeson Plays ‘Philosopher-Mob Boss’

Silvermane is going to be a character of immense importance in the story. From what has been revealed about the character, it seems that the vibe that the show is going for with him makes him look a lot like The Penguin from Matt Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Trilogy, and also like Wilson Fisk, as he appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Silvermane is going to be billed as the most powerful mob boss in the city in which Ben Reilly operates. The character is going to have a massive influence on the cast of characters, given that the lines of Cat Hardy and Flint Marko are on his payroll. Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is going to be responsible for bringing the character to life, and the clips that have been shared online suggest that the character is not someone any sane man would want to cross.

Showrunner Oren Uziel talked about how it was ‘common sense’ that there were certain characters that he could not use. He pointed at the upcoming film, which would be released pretty close to the show’s debut. Pointing to the diverse array of characters that he could use, Uziel said if someone like Electro was off the table, there was always someone like Megawatt.
Regarding the character, he said, “[Dirk Leydon] had dreams of making it big on Broadway,”
The character is one of the more niche offerings that the show has in terms of characters from Spider-Man’s mythos, but that does not mean that he will not have an impactful role in the story.
| Character | Actor |
| Cat Hardy | Li Jun Li |
| Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone | Abraham Popoola |
| Flint Marko / Sandman | Jack Huston |
| Silvermane | Brendan Gleeson |
| Dirk Leydon / Megawatt | Andrew Lewis Caldwell |
There was a lot of hype when the show was first announced after Spider-Man Noir appeared in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. There were a lot of questions about whether the character would appear in the live-action show. However, when it was announced that it would be Ben Riely, and not Peter Parker, Spider-Man fans became a little more laser-focused on the story.
Who is Ben Reilly?
In Spider-Noir, Ben Reilly is The Spider, a superpowered PI who has been out of the game for five years after a personal tragedy. In the main 616 timeline, however, Ben Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker who goes by the name Scarlet Spider in the comics.
Will Spider-Noir be in Avengers: Secret Wars?
No plans have been announced for Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir beyond the show on Prime Video. While there are some Sony characters that are being speculated to appear in Secret Wars, so far, the expected cast is the X-Men characters from Fox’s run on the characters. and the MCU’s heroes.
Where does Spider-Noir take place?
Spider-Noir takes place in an alternate New York City, one where a character named Ben Reilly has been the only superpowered individual…until now.
Which other villain would you like to see get a Spider-Noir upgrade? (I give up). Let us know in the comments below!
Spider-Noir will premiere on May 25, 2026, on MGM+ in the United States, and globally on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
