The trend of webtoon adaptations into anime continues to gain momentum, and Crunchyroll is prepared to introduce even more stories from Korea. With that said, we have picked up the five confirmed Webtoon anime adaptations, which are officially in production.
These five series offer everything from high school action and royal drama to psychological sports stories and fantasy adventures. And based on the strength of their original stories, character development, and overall appeal, here is how they rank from worst to best.
5 Teenage Mercenary Brings a Deadly Fighter Back to School

He tries to live like a regular high school boy, adapting to civilian life as well as protecting those around him from dangers. The mixture of his violent background and typical high school problems leaves enough room for action and emotions.
The biggest draw is watching Ijin handle ordinary school troubles with the skills he developed on the battlefield. However, his excessive combat skills can make some of the confrontations somewhat predictable, especially when the people threatening his friends barely stand a chance. It remains a fun action series, but its straightforward conflicts lack the depth found in the entries above it, making fifth place a fair spot.
4 The Remarried Empress Serves Up Royal Drama and Betrayal

However, rather than begging for his attention or letting him crush her, she takes steps that change her fate. The webtoon transforms a royal divorce into a fight of pride, politics, and freedom.
It is Navier who makes this webtoon so fascinating. Besides, the politics in the palace add meaning to the personal issues. It ranks above Teenage Mercenary because its central conflict offers more room for character development, even if its focus on romance and court intrigue is narrower than the fantasy adventures ahead.
3 SSS-Class Revival Hunter Makes Every Death Count

Everything changes when he gains a skill that lets him copy another person’s ability at the cost of his own death. He can also return to life after being killed, turning what initially seems like a terrible power into a remarkable advantage. So far, Crunchyroll has confirmed a January 2027 release of the anime (via Crunchyroll).
In addition, the show knows how to provide thrilling fights without forgetting about the characters’ emotions. It is taking third place due to its great balance between action and character development, as well as more variety compared to The Remarried Empress, while leaving the top two to take storytelling ambition even further.
2 The Boxer Delivers a Hard-Hitting Story of Ambition

Yu possesses extraordinary boxing talent but initially shows little emotion or interest in what that talent means. When coach K decides to train him, the story begins examining the difference between natural ability, ambition, suffering, and the desire to win.
What makes The Boxer exceptional is its refusal to treat every fight as a simple contest between hard work and determination. Yu’s opponents have their own fears, motivations, and personal struggles, making their matches emotionally important even when the outcome seems obvious. Its psychological depth puts it ahead of SSS-Class Revival Hunter.
1 Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Brings an Epic Story to Life

But knowing what happens in a novel is not the same as controlling the lives of real people, and every decision can change the future he thought he understood. The anime adaptation of the webtoon was announced at Anime Expo 2024 (via Crunchyroll).
That premise opens the door to much more than survival battles. The series also plays with the relationship between readers and fictional characters in ways that make its premise especially memorable. The Boxer may deliver a tighter psychological drama, but Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint offers the strongest overall combination of world-building, character development, and high-stakes storytelling, earning the top spot.
Crunchyroll’s 15-Webtoon Anime Collaboration Could Bring More Reveals
Now the good news is that the list does not end here! A recent press release (via WEBTOON) has also opened the door to a much bigger wave of webtoon adaptations. WEBTOON has partnered with Crunchyroll and other industry partners on a project to develop anime adaptations of approximately 15 webtoon properties. The Remarried Empress, Teenage Mercenary, and The Boxer are the three titles revealed so far.
SSS-Class Revival Hunter has a confirmed January 2027 release date, while Teenage Mercenary and The Remarried Empress are scheduled for 2027. Release dates for The Boxer and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint have yet to be announced.
That means there is plenty more to look forward to. As the collaboration moves ahead, fans can expect further reveals about which other popular webtoons will receive anime adaptations. With so many successful webtoon stories waiting for their chance on screen, the next announcements could bring some major surprises.
