Has your watchlist turned a bit dry lately? Well, let us fix that in the best way possible! This week, streaming platforms like Netflix and HBO Max have gone all out to bring you some of the best cinematic gems, with the lineup from April 20 to April 24 filled with incredible movies!

But not all the releases were worth your time, so I curated the 7 best movies that will make you feel like you’ve truly watched something worthwhile. So, give a rest to the endless scrolling, and check out these titles that will keep you entertained before the weekend rolls in!

1 Apex (2026)

Apex is a Netflix Original that strips down survival thrillers to their rawest form with one woman and one predator (a human) in the wilderness. It features Charlize Theron, so I don’t need another reason to watch it this week, but if you’re still not convinced, do check out the trailer! Taron Egerton looks absolutely insane, and I can’t wait to see how this whole thing plays out.

2 Marty Supreme (2025)

I was sad to see how Marty Supreme did not win any Oscars, because I found it to be easily one of the most entertaining movies in 2025. Timothée Chalamet made Marty Mauser almost repulsive but also magnetic, and the movie kept me on my toes the whole time because there was just so much happening! He played a hustler, who’s a table tennis pro, trying to pursue his dream, but not with much integrity.

You don’t really root for the character, but you’re still interested in seeing how far he goes. I feel he deserved the Best Actor award, and if you’re wondering why, tune in to watch Marty Supreme this week!

3 No Other Choice (2025)

Have you also been applying to countless jobs and not hearing back from any? I don’t blame you; the job market is bad, and No Other Choice might give you the cathartic release you need this week in these tough times. But don’t get inspired by this Park Chan-wook dark comedy thriller that centers on Yoo Man-su, a man who loses his job and starts eliminating his competition after months of unemployment.

4 Ordinary Angels (2024)

In the mood for a heartfelt drama? Watch Ordinary Angels, set during the brutal winter of 1994 in Kentucky, the movie follows Hilary Swank’s Sharon, who is a hairdresser, struggling to find her life’s purpose. When she learns about Alan Ritchson’s Ed, a widowed father who needs a liver transplant for his young daughter.

Sharon gathers the entire community to contribute to the family and get the help they need. It’s one of those movies that makes me appreciate the power of community, and if you want to beat the mid-week blues, do check out this wholesome film.

5 Sound of Falling (2025)

I am all for psychological dramas, and Sound of Falling is among the best ones! The movie follows four girls who grow up in the same remote farm, and though they are separated by time, their lives keep echoing the shared trauma, secrets, and unresolved family problems. For those who enjoy thought-provoking cinema that sparks discussion after the credits, Sound of Falling might just be the movie you need!

6 The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025)

The long-awaited conclusion to Ed and Lorraine Warren’s horror saga is The Conjuring: Last Rites. Now, this might not live up to other entries in the franchise, but I felt it was a nostalgic farewell rather than a reinvention. We see familiar faces returning, callbacks, and more fan service that longtime viewers would absolutely love! So, join the Warrens on their last terrifying case of the Smurl haunting, and maybe go for a Conjuring film marathon this week!

Franz Kranz’s Mass is the movie that I recommend to people who value powerful storytelling over spectacle. The narrative revolves around two sets of parents, who meet years after a devastating school shooting involving their sons. The whole film unfolds almost entirely in one room, relying on dialogue and performances. If you have the strength to witness people process their unimaginable pain, by all means, go ahead and watch Mass!
