The Grand Theft Auto franchise is one of the biggest in gaming history, and GTA 6 is going to be one of the biggest games of the decade. Rockstar Games has given us plenty of memorable characters over the years through the GTA franchise, from ambitious criminals to millionaires and even loyal friends.
There’s no doubt that the protagonists are the main focus of the story, but some of the supporting characters have enough personality and backstory to carry their own games. We’ve seen smaller stories through expansions like Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, so there are plenty of opportunities for spin-offs.
With that in mind, let’s look at seven GTA characters who deserve their own games.
7 Little Jacob Hughes
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesLittle Jacob is one of Niko Bellic’s most dependable friends in GTA 4. His loyalty, Jamaican background, and involvement in Liberty City’s drug trade make him an appealing choice for a smaller, character-driven adventure.
We could follow Jacob’s early experience after arriving in America, explore his relationships with local criminals and his gradual rise through the city’s underworld. We could have missions with weapons dealing, street-level fights, and alliances with other characters.
6 Cesar Vialpando
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesCesar Vialpando earns CJ’s trust through his loyalty, courage, and willingness to expose the betrayal threatening the Grove Street Families. Despite his importance to San Andreas, his background and the history of his gang, the Varrios Los Aztecas, receive relatively little attention.
We could get a prequel where we follow Cesar as he establishes himself within the Aztecas and becomes involved in the conflict with rival gangs. Territory control, street racing, and gang warfare would fit naturally into the gameplay.
5 Yusuf Amir
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesYusuf Amir brings a distinctive kind of chaos to The Ballad of Gay Tony and later GTA Online. The wealthy real estate developer loves expensive toys, outrageous schemes, and dangerous adventures, making him an ideal protagonist for a more comedic spin-off.
We could acquire luxury properties, steal exotic vehicles, and undertake extravagant heists while dealing with powerful rivals. His wealth and unpredictable behavior would offer a different take on the traditional rise-to-power narrative.
4 Lester Crest
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesLester Crest might not be the obvious choice for a traditional protagonist, but his intelligence and talent for organizing elaborate robberies would make a unique type of game.
In a Lester-focused game, gameplay would focus on surveillance, hacking, crew recruitment, and heist preparation. We would gather intelligence, study targets, select specialists, and coordinate operations before watching their plans unfold.
3 Patrick McReary
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesPatrick “Packie” McReary has appeared in Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, and GTA Online, yet his story still has plenty of unexplored territory. His family’s criminal history in Liberty City offers an excellent foundation for a dedicated prequel.
We could have a game with a younger Packie as he rises through the McReary crime family’s ranks. We could experience the family’s operations, explore internal rivalries, and discover how Packie became the experienced criminal we see.
2 Sean “Sweet” Johnson
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesCarl “CJ” Johnson’s return to Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reveals how much the Grove Street Families have deteriorated during his absence. Sweet’s struggle to protect his neighborhood makes him an interesting candidate for a prequel.
A game with Sweet could explore the gang’s earlier years, its territorial expansion, and the events that eventually led to its decline. We’d experience the responsibilities of leading the Grove Street Families before CJ’s return, with territory wars and neighborhood rivalries.
1 Lamar Davis
Image Credit: Rockstar GamesLamar Davis is one of the funniest characters in Grand Theft Auto 5, thanks to his personality, questionable decisions, and rivalry with Franklin Clinton. However, beneath his comedic antics is an ambitious criminal who wants to establish himself in Los Santos.
Gerald "Slink" Johnson, the voice of Lamar Davis, has not lost a beat with his acting chops A fan ran into the iconic GTA 5 side character, and he promptly reenacted his iconic roast scene of Franklin https://t.co/04wdIVyZsO
— GTA 6 Intel (@GTAlphaintel) September 22, 2026We could follow Lamar as he builds his own criminal enterprise, expands his influence across Davis, and tackles rivalries with the Ballas and Vagos. They could bring back gang territories and business management from earlier games, and Franklin could also return as a supporting character.
