5 Best Wizards in Anime Stronger Than Harry Potter

Watching Harry Potter (IMDb rating as of September 1, 2026: 7.7/10) as a child might’ve made you grow up thinking Expelliarmus and a well-timed Patronus made Harry one of fiction’s most powerful wizards. But step outside Hogwarts for even a second, and the golden boy starts looking less like a prodigy and more like a first-year next to anime’s spellcasters.

From reincarnated demon kings to strategic-class magicians capable of erasing matter itself, anime has never been shy about pushing magic users past anything J.K. Rowling‘s universe ever did. Here are five anime wizards whose raw magical power leaves Harry Potter completely outclassed.

1 Rudeus Greyrat Mastered Many Forms of Magic

First, we have Rudeus from the ongoing anime Mushoku Tensei. After he was reincarnated into a fantasy world where magic is as common as electricity, he started learning all sorts of spells. There are a few ways magic differs in Harry Potter and Mushoku Tensei: anyone can learn it in Rudeus’s world, and you don’t necessarily need a wand to cast it.

That said, Rudeus mastered all sorts of magic at a young age. And once he uses magic with an incantation, he is also skilled enough to be able to cast that magic without ever chanting. Furthermore, he is a fast learner, as he was even able to replicate Orsted’s magic by seeing it just once. This means that by the time Harry would be waving his wand and doing an incantation, Rudeus would’ve already won.

2 Zeo Reinbolt Uses His Magic Only for Destruction

Zeo Thorzeus Reinbolt from Wistoria: Wand and Sword does not appear to be a wizard at first glance. In Harry Potter, most magicians look weak physically, and that is because magic does the job perfectly, so why throw a punch? However, that does not apply to Zeo. He uses his thunder magic to enhance his body, which makes him a living weapon.

In the anime, he is considered one of the strongest Magia Vanders, a title that is given to the best of the best magicians. He can move at a speed that makes it hard to see him, and with Virgas Argo Thorzeus, which is the most advanced magic, he is a walking disaster.

3 Unlike Harry Potter, Cid Kagenou Never Stopped Growing

Cid Kagenou, just like Rudeus, was born into another world that gave him an advantage over others: he started learning magic at a very young age. Furthermore, he has a unique ability of being able to see magic as a physical thing; at least that is how he defines it. Unlike Harry, who keeps learning new spells and whose innate magic power determines the power, Cid Kagenou is someone who simply kept honing his control over the magic itself.

He doesn’t have any complex spells; he can simply manipulate magic like it is natural to him. Furthermore, just like Zeo, he also uses the magic to enhance his body, which means he can also put up a hand-to-hand fight (in which he is also the strongest due to his past life experiences in various martial arts).

4 Tatsuya Shiba Can Evaporate Entire Armies

Tatsuya Shiba lives in a world that is a lot like Harry’s world, except for the fact that magic is no secret and it has been integrated with science and technology; or rather, it is the primary form of science itself. First things first, he has a very unique kind of magic that even if he is killed, he will come back to life by automatically reversing time for his body.

This is something that he can do with others as well. Furthermore, he can use decomposition, which allows him to practically dematerialize anything. During a conflict, he was able to completely evaporate an entire naval fleet like it was nothing, which makes him far more dangerous than Harry or even Voldemort in his prime.

5 Anos Voldigoad Is Above Magic Itself

Anos is the absolute being in his own universe. He is a character who can withstand the strongest attacks from gods themselves like it is nothing, and is practically the embodiment of “won’t work on me”. His magic operates on a scale that Harry’s world simply has no equivalent for: casually creating new species, unraveling “unbreakable” curses meant to erase entire bloodlines, and shrugging off magic explicitly designed to kill gods.

For example, the entire world’s time was stopped once, but only Anos was able to walk as if nothing had happened. He is also able to come back to life as many times as he wants, which makes him practically a god when compared to Harry.
