Ring in the weekend with some great blockbusters on HBO Max. If you are in the mood for a comedy or for one of the biggest blockbusters of 2025, the streaming platform has many exciting titles this weekend to binge on.
To tick several boxes, we have included gems from multiple genres in the list. From Timothée Chalamet’s ‘almost Oscar’ performance to a live-action comedy from the makers of Dungeons & Dragons, there is something for everyone. Catch these films this weekend (April 24-26) on HBO Max.
1 Marty Supreme (150 Minutes)
Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme | Credits: A24Timothée Chalamet campaigned hard for Marty Supreme, and many felt that he almost had the Oscars in the bag before making a controversial statement about ballet and opera. However, the Josh Safdie directorial is a wonderful drama about how far ambition can lead a person.
Following the story of Marty Mauser, a ping-pong prodigy who will stop at nothing to be the best, Chalamet’s powerhouse performance, along with classic Safdie anxiety filmmaking, makes this a riveting watch.
Other supporting actors include Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, and Kevin O’Leary.
2 Dust Bunny (106 Minutes)
A still from Dust Bunny | Credits: LionsgateWhat if John Wick starred Mads Mikkelsen? Dust Bunny answers exactly that. It is an action fantasy film, following a hit-man called Resident 5B, played by Mikkelson, who is “hired” by a child named Aurora. He soon finds himself in a messy situation and ultimately has to save Aurora from the ‘monsters’ who killed her family.
With slick action and impressive cinematography, the film sees Mikkelsen in a different avatar, putting him in the leagues of Bob Odenkirk and Keanu Reeves.
Other actors include Sigourney Weaver, David Dastmalchian, and Sheila Atim. The film is directed by Bryan Fuller.
3 Sinners (137 Minutes)
One of last year’s biggest blockbusters ran riot at the Academy Awards in the major categories, bringing Michael B. Jordan his first Oscar for Best Actor and Ryan Coogler for Best Original Screenplay.
Set in the Jim Crow era, Sinners follows a set of twins, both played by Jordan, on the opening night of their juke joint. As the night rages on, a few unwelcome guests appear.
Ludwig Göransson composed the Oscar-winning music, while Autumn Durald Arkapaw handled the cinematography, winning the Academy Award as well.
4 Game Night (100 Minutes)
A still from Game Night | Credits: Warner Bros. PicturesIf you are in the mood for a comedy that goes off the rails, Game Night is the one for you, now streaming on HBO Max. Starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, the action comedy starts with a couple hosting a game night and things turning for the worse from there. There are betrayals, loyalties questioned, and, surprisingly, violence for a comedy.
The film is directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, and also stars Kyle Chandler.
5 No Hard Feelings (103 Minutes)
A still from No Hard Feelings | Credits: Sony Pictures ReleasingJennifer Lawrence returned to the screen after a year-long hiatus with the romantic comedy No Hard Feelings. The Hunger Games star plays a woman hired by a wealthy family to romance their son. Lawrence is on top form with her sense of humor and raunchy performance, and the short runtime just breezes by.
The film is directed by Gene Stupnitsky and also stars Andrew Barth Feldman.
