The latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2, has climbed all the way up to the top spot on the highest-rated MCU episodes list on IMDb. The fourth episode, titled Gloves Off, dethroned Loki‘s series finale, Glorious Purpose, with a 9.6 rating as of writing on April 9, 2026. The latter is not too far behind, with a great score of 9.5 (as of April 9, 2026).
The events of the episode might lead Mayor Wilson Fisk towards a rage-filled rampage that could change the show in a major way. The shocking ending of the episode gave viewers a lot to talk about after the episode aired on April 7.
Daredevil: Born Again has another episode in the 10 highest-rated MCU episodes on IMDb. Loki has two more episodes at the top, while WandaVision and What If…? have two episodes each. Here are the 10 highest-rated episodes of TV shows in the MCU as of April 9, 2026, ranked.
10 Isle of Joy (2025)
Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Episode 8 – IMDb: 8.9
Isle of Joy is the penultimate episode of the first season of Daredevil: Born Again. It sealed the show’s reputation as the darkest corner of the MCU TV lineup. It was more popular than the season finale, and fans kept returning to it, all because of the major revelation that comes at the end of the episode.
Set against the backdrop of the Fisk Black and White Ball, the hour pulls off the ultimate twist: it wasn’t Wilson who ordered Foggy Nelson’s murder, but Vanessa herself. Once Matt found out, we got the quietest but most powerful confrontation scenes in the show.
On the dance floor, Matt says to her, “Does Fisk know what you’ve done?” And she replies, “Does Heather know that you’re Daredevil?” She proceeds to tell Heather, but Dex’s unexpected arrival stops her. Matt takes the bullet meant for Kingpin, leaving the episode on a major cliffhanger.
After the show’s recent episode climbed to the top of the IMDb ratings, one could notice the common factor in both episodes: Vanessa Fisk.
9 What If… Ultron Won? (2021)
What If…? Season 1 Episode 8 – IMDb: 8.9
What If…? went full cosmic apocalypse with this episode, and fans have been raving about it ever since. In this reality, Ultron succeeds in his mission and claims the vibranium Vision body. He destroys Thanos in a single clean stroke, snatches every Infinity Stone, and wipes out the universe.
The power hungry Ultron then sets his eyes on the multiverse. During his pursuit, he somehow senses the all-seeing Watcher, giving us a Watcher-vs-Ultron showdown and setting up the What… If? finale.
Now, Ultron’s cosmic fight was one of the most visually engaging sequences in the MCU. We got glimpses of a Skrull-populated Earth and even a Galactus-scale Ultron. Few animated episodes across the franchise have matched this one for pure scale and stakes.
8 What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands? (2021)
What If…? Season 1 Episode 4 – IMDb: 8.9
Before the Ultron episode, this Doctor Strange-centered episode set the highest standards for future What…If? episodes. It proved to be one of the most tragic episodes of the show. In this alternate reality of Stephen Strange, he didn’t lose his hands in the accident. Instead, Christine Palmer, who accompanied him for the ride, died.
After losing Christine, Strange spends centuries twisting himself into a magical monster trying to bring her back. The Ancient One had to split him into two Stranges. One Strange accepted his loss, while the other couldn’t let go of his grief and literally devoured the universe due to his obsession.
Despite all his attempts, the evil Strange fails completely, making him a tragic villain. Fans could even see the inspiration from popular anime shows in this episode.
7 Previously On (2021)
WandaVision Episode 8 – IMDb: 8.9
Previously On is the episode where the show traded the sitcom humor for something closer to tragedy. Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda has to face the tragic reality, making it one of the most emotionally devastating episodes the MCU has ever produced on television.
We feel Wanda’s pain and root for her, despite the bad things she has done since the Endgame finale. The character’s devastating realization comes after Kathryn Hahn‘s surprising villain Agatha Harkness drags her through a painful tour of her own memories.
Fans are subjected to all of Wanda’s traumas. The Sokovia bombing, her experiments with HYDRA, her first brush with the Mind Stone, and the heartbreaking moment she built the Westview Hex from pure grief after losing Vision.
Olsen delivers a career-best performance in this hour-long episode. It was also the episode that finally uttered the name ‘Scarlet Witch’ on screen for the first time in the MCU.
6 On a Very Special Episode… (2021)
WandaVision Episode 5 – IMDb: 8.9
By the fifth episode of WandaVision, both the characters and viewers began to feel the inconsistencies in the world Wanda created. Outside the Hex, Monica confronts Wanda. Vision finally begins to question the reality around him. It almost appears that Wanda’s new world has started collapsing.
The episode’s highlight was the quirky sitcom tropes of the ’80s. Wanda and Vision navigate the chaos of their newborn twins in her new reality. There are plenty of references to the shows of that era.
But it was the final doorbell that sent the internet into meltdown, and the reason why this episode became a fan favorite. In the final shot, Wanda opens her door to find Quicksilver. Not Aaron Taylor-Johnson, but Evan Peters reprising his role from Fox’s X-Men films.
For a brief moment, fans believed the multiverse had cracked open, and the X-Men were officially joining the MCU. The cameo definitely had fans talking for weeks before the show revealed it to be a farce.
5 Journey Into Mystery (2021)
Loki Season 1 Episode 5 – IMDb: 8.9
Loki‘s fifth episode from its first season dropped us into a completely new world of the Void. We finally got to see the wasteland at the end of time from comics, where pruned variants are fed to a cloud-like beast called Alioth.
In this world, Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki meets an entire pantheon of himself. We see Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, and Alligator Loki, each one quickly becoming a fan-favorite. Richard E. Grant’s heartbreaking turn as Classic Loki certainly made an impact on Marvel fans.
The episode felt bigger, stranger, and more daring than anything other Disney+/Marvel shows attempted, and fans have never forgotten it.
4 Death’s Hand in Mine (2024)
Agatha All Along Episode 7 – IMDb: 9.0
Agatha All Along is not a popular show when compared to its Marvel peers. But the show dropped its biggest card in its seventh episode. After weeks of teasing Rio Vidal’s true nature, the episode finally confirms what many had suspected.
Aubrey Plaza’s chaotic, green-coded witch turned out to be Death herself. The reveal took fans back to every prior interaction between Rio and Agatha, and they realized that the relationship between them was something closer to a cosmic love story.
Where most MCU shows struggled to stick their big twists, this one landed with genuine mythic weight. While Hahn and Plaza’s performances were phenomenal, it was Patti LuPone as Lilia who stole the show in this episode.
3 The Nexus Event (2021)
Loki Season 1 Episode 4 – IMDb: 9.0
Before showing us the entire Void in its fifth episode (mentioned earlier), Loki gave us a glimpse into the world in the end credits scene of the phenomenal fourth episode, The Nexus Event. The episode peels back the TVA’s carefully curated lies, gives Loki and Sylvie a heartbreaking moment of connection on Lamentis-1, and then devastates fans by seemingly pruning Loki out of existence.
But it was the post-credits scene that sent the internet into overdrive. The possibility of all Loki variants, including Classic Loki, Kid Loki, and Alligator Loki, had fans talking for days after this episode. This episode cracked the multiverse wide open for the MCU and set up everything that followed.
2 Glorious Purpose (2023)
Loki Season 2 Episode 6 – IMDb: 9.5
Glorious Purpose is the rare MCU finale that trades explosions for emotional payoff. After countless loops, failures, and desperate attempts to save his friends, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki finally accepts that the only way to preserve every timeline is to become its keeper.
He made the ultimate sacrifice as he shattered Kang’s Sacred Timeline and took his seat at the heart of a new Yggdrasil-like tree. He transformed from the God of Mischief into the God of Stories. At the time, it was considered to be a fitting, operatic farewell for Loki.
1 Gloves Off (2026)
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 4 – IMDb: 9.6
With Gloves Off, Daredevil: Born Again gave us one of the most thrilling episodes in the MCU TV lineup. The mid-season episode saw Bullseye’s diner massacre, where Wilson Bethel turns toothpicks, straws, and even a lobster tail into lethal weapons.
It was one of the most creatively brutal setpieces in the MCU. But it was the final boxing match sequence that pushed fans over the edge. Ever since Vanessa turned him into a pawn and pushed him to murder Foggy Nelson, Benjamin Poindexter has been carrying a grudge. He finally acted upon it at Fogwell’s Gym during Mayor Fisk’s charity boxing match.
In the episode’s closing moments, Bullseye hurls a heavy glass statue straight at Fisk. He shattered the statue with his championship belt, but one piece of the glass struck Vanessa on the side of her head. The episode cuts to black as Vanessa lies in a growing pool of her own blood. This episode earns its strong reactions through dread, character, and consequence.
