In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she is the know-it-all, unabashed girlfriend of Spider-Man while in Dune she is the mysterious Chani.

With her versatility and talent, Zendaya has consistently continued to captivate audiences with each new role she takes on. In recent times, one of her most standout performances has been in the romance sports-drama film, Challengers.

Starring in the love triangle drama as an injured tennis star, Zendaya defied expectations and proved she could take any role and make it an acting masterclass. Thanks to the film’s critical response (has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes), Zendaya is confidently entering the race for the grand prize this year: the Oscars.

A source close to the site revealed that the actress is only going this far since she believes she has a fair shot even though she would be up against Hollywood talents like Angelina Jolie and Amy Adams.

Zendaya’s sports drama film, Challengers debuted to rave reviews and praise from the audience and critics alike. A film more concentrated on her character’s desire to succeed than the love triangle, it portrayed Zendaya in another light, showcasing she is more than apt to take on mature and complicated roles.

On the other hand this year, we have Angelina Jolie starring in Pablo Larraín‘s Maria Callas biopic Maria and Amy Adams starring in Nightbitch. Both Jolie and Adams are receiving the Oscars buzz, thanks to their anticipatory strong performances in their respective film.
