When Idris Elba stepped into The Office as the no-nonsense Charles Miner, he brought an intensity that had Dunder Mifflin employees trembling – on screen, at least. Off-screen, however, it was Elba who had to hold it together, thanks to John Krasinski’s relentless pranks.

Elba admitted that filming the hit comedy often turned into a laugh marathon, with Krasinski leading the charge in trying to crack him up.

Elba shared that Krasinski’s antics went far beyond the typical giggles. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he revealed that Krasinski loved to push boundaries. He said,

Trying to keep a straight face while I’m doing my lines. Someone else would make another sound over here. It was a lot of work.

The hardest part, though? Staying professional while his co-star scribbled absurd doodles on his scripts.

In a separate interview with Radio X, Elba got candid about one particularly bold prank. He joked,

John. It’s Idris. I remember the days on the US Office when you would draw penises on my script, while I was reading. Thinking that I could just continue reading while there’s a big d*ck. Thank you, John, for your support.

As Charles Miner, Idris Elba was the stern foil to John Krasinski’s prank-loving Jim Halpert. But behind the scenes, it was Krasinski who had the upper hand, proving that his on-screen charm wasn’t just for show.
