Back in 2023, Jamie Lee Curtis found herself amidst relentless scrutiny over her stance on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The Oscar-winner has once again garnered criticism over her recent comments on LA wildfires, which have proven to be one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles history.
With over 150,000 people being forced to evacuate, many notable figures, including Curtis, have lost their homes to the fire. Although the Everything Everywhere All at Once star has come forward to support the victims, her recent analogy of the disaster has commenced a firestorm in x.
Fans accused Jamie Lee Curtis of being tone-deaf following her analogy
In the last three days, the destructive fire in LA has impacted thousands, almost wiping out the entirety of the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
Considering Jamie Lee Curtis resided in that neighborhood along with her family, while weeping over the devastation, the actress drew parallels between LA’s current situation with other war-torn countries, including Gaza (via X).
The entire city of Pacific Palisades is gone, I mean literally my neighbourhood gone. My house tonight is still there, but I live in a different canyon. But the entire Pacific Palisades looks like, you know, unfortunately Gaza or one of these war-torn countries where awful things have happened.
This hasn’t sat well with many, as some claimed that the comparison of the two regions was in poor taste, accusing Curtis of being tone-deaf.
This is a completely atrocious comparison considering this is the same woman who advocated for Israel’s genocide in Gaza

— ໊ (@buffys) January 10, 2025Although it’s not hard to see why the Oscar winner‘s analogy wasn’t well received, Curtis has come forward to help out the people who have been affected by the wildfires.
Jamie Lee Curtis’ family offers $1M in support of the LA victims
In the wake of the disaster, Curtis, one of the many people who’ve lost their homes to the raging fire, took to her IG to pledge support to the ones affected. In her post, the actress commended the LA Fire Department and everyone else who’s been involved in fighting the wildfires, adding that her family has pledged $1M in support of the people “who live and love there”.
Her caption read:
My husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our Family Foundation to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there.
Hopefully, other major industry figures will follow suit and offer support to the ones who’ve lost everything to the devastating fire.
