Amid a stacked theatrical slate, dominated by titles like The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Project Hail Mary, and A24’s The Drama, You, Me & Tuscany will be facing a steep battle at the box office for visibility. The rom-com starring Regé-Jean Page and Halle Bailey has a lot riding on it, as the movie has been positioned as a potential barometer and proof concept for the commercial viability of black-led theatrical rom-roms.
While the pressure is hardly fair, You, Me & Tuscany has managed to garner decent reviews following its global premiere on April 10. As for fans hoping to catch the rom-com from the comfort of their homes, it may be a bit of a wait, as its streaming plans remain under wraps. However, going by the typical post-theatrical trajectory of Universal Pictures releases, which tend to land first on Peacock, the movie is expected to debut there before heading to other platforms.

When Will You, Me & Tuscany Arrive on Streaming?
As discussed, Universal tends to split its Pay-1 window between Peacock and Amazon. The titles stream on Peacock for the first four months of the Pay-1 Window before heading back to Amazon Prime Video for 10 months and eventually returning to Peacock for an additional four months.
Considering Universal has extended the theatrical window for its title to five weeks this year (via Variety), expect the movie to drop on VOD services in late May. And coming to its streaming prospects, traditionally, a Universal release takes 3-4 months to premiere on Peacock, as seen with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which took four months before heading to the streamer.
While the rom-com’s theatrical presence in the coming weeks will also play a key role in its streaming window, from a logical standpoint, a premiere between July and August seems likely. This would put the eventual Prime Video release around November-December of 2026. Unfortunately, Netflix subscribers are unlikely to witness this rom-com land on the streamer.
You, Me & Tuscany Box Office: How Does it Need to Break Even?
A still from You, Me & Tuscany | Credit: Universal PicturesYou, Me & Tuscany seems to have a lot riding on it, as the presence of black-led rom coms seemingly depends on how it’s received. Made on a modest $18 million budget, the movie’s break-even point likely sits around $45 million. As of April 11, it is projected to open to approximately $8.3 million after earning $750K in previews (via Deadline).
Although it is on track to deliver a bigger opening than Anyone But You, You, Me & Tuscany does not benefit from a holiday release window and faces several heavyweights. As a result, reaching its break-even point could prove to be a steep climb, particularly in light of its modest preview figures.
On the bright side, the movie has earned an A- CinemaScore, which could contribute to promising legs in the coming weeks, which won’t be surprising as rom-coms tend to be walk-up heavy at the box office. If word of mouth holds, the movie could still carve out its own niche amid a crowded calendar.
