SUMMARY

Before Tom Cruise, there was Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan is a living legend when it comes to the risky world of stunts. Whether it is fighting off goons with nothing but a mop or sliding off the side of a skyscraper, the man has done it all, all while making it look incredibly effortless. Despite his fair share of bumps and bruises along the way, Jackie Chan jumps right back up every time, hell-bent on doing his own stunts.

Jackie Chan might have just turned seventy but he is making sure that his age does not hold him back. He still wants to give his audience his hundred percent, even if it means putting his own well-being at risk sometimes. A video has surfaced on social media showing Jackie Chan fainting on set while performing a stunt, prompting fans to be extremely worried about the legend.

Jackie Chan’s films are filled with jaw-dropping action, most of which he himself is responsible for. The actor does not believe in having a stunt double do his job for him as he believes in being faithful to his audience. However, this unwavering loyalty to his craft and fans does come with a hefty price tag.

As seen in a behind-the-scenes video from his latest film, Panda Plan (2024), Chan was filming a strangulation scene but ended up losing consciousness, causing panic on the set.

Being the man he is, he woke up a few moments later and kept a smile on his face while he regained stability. Instead of waltzing off to his trailer and calling it a day as he should have, Chan decided to complete the scene.

He went back to his mark and shot the entire sequence, and ended it with a smile when the director yelled, “Cut!” Check out the moment below:

Even at the age of seventy, Chan refuses to back down from doing his own stunts and while this is incredibly respectable, we do hope he slows down for the sake of his well-being.

Fans Are Concerned About Jackie Chan

With over a hundred movies in his filmography, it is safe to say that Chan has built himself a legacy that can never be undone. He also flaunts a loyal and die-hard fandom that looks up to the actor in absolute awe. Most of us have grown up watching the actor defy all odds in his films, which is why the topic of his health is sort of personal to us.

After watching the video of Chan fainting briefly, fans were extremely concerned about the actor and asked him to finally put a break on performing stunts. Here are a few comments begging the actor to take it slow:

@aliff.nabeer – Ohhh please uncle Jackie.. You don’t need to do this anymore.. You’re already a living legend.
@1redemption2 – Jackieeeee you don’t need to prove anything anymore. You’re a LEGEND!
@mofarah6ix – Our goat is getting old.
@joshuaochoa36 – Jackieee Chan will always be our hero, you can sit back and relax now we all still love you legend.
@abdulkadirnajar – Jackie, don’t push yourself too hard.

As per Hype, Chan blamed the accident on him holding his breath for too long and dismissed the severity of the situation. Later in an interview, he stated, “If I just sit there while they use a stunt double, and they just film my close-ups after he’s done, I would feel very guilty!” Someone needs to tell Chan that his audience adores him, whether he does his own stunts or not.

Panda Plan is now playing in theatres.
