You Can See Everything went from a complete secret to one of the most talked-about films of the year in a single night. The documentary follows disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in the final weeks before she reported to prison, and it is the feature directorial debut of Nathan Fielder, the deadpan mind behind Nathan for You and The Rehearsal.
Fielder co-directed the film with Lance Oppenheim, the filmmaker behind HBO’s Ren Faire and A24’s Primetime. A24 kept the project under wraps for years before unveiling it as a surprise screening at the Telluride Film Festival, and it has been riding a wave of glowing reviews ever since.

The documentary has already made quite the festival run. It had its secret world premiere at the 53rd Telluride Film Festival on September 6, 2026, before screening in the Spotlight section of the 64th New York Film Festival on September 30.
Fans also seem eager to see it on the big screen. Its presales at Alamo Drafthouse reportedly set a record for an A24 film. Viewers outside the U.S. will have to wait a little longer.
The film is set to arrive in the U.K. and Ireland on November 20, 2026, and A24 has also confirmed a release in Australia and New Zealand. Do keep in mind that it is a long sit, with a runtime of around 2 hours and 55 minutes. The film is rated R.
What Is You Can See Everything Plot About?
A still from You Can See Everything | Credits: A24The setup of You Can See Everything is as strange as it sounds. Just 34 days before she was due to begin her prison sentence for defrauding Theranos investors, Elizabeth Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, invited Nathan Fielder, Lance Oppenheim, and a small crew into their San Diego home to document her every move.
According to A24’s official synopsis, what starts as a close-up portrait of an enigmatic felon slowly turns into a “mind-bending three-year journey.” The filming did not stop when Holmes went to prison either, as the documentary also covers her early weeks behind bars.
The production itself was remarkably intense. According to Variety, the team worked with a seven-person crew, shot for up to 16 hours a day, and set up cameras to cover the entire house. Fielder later admitted in a post-screening Q&A that he had mixed feelings about Holmes after living with her, saying that while she “seems so genuine,” he knows “she is a liar” (via Variety).
That tension is at the heart of the film. Rather than simply asking whether Holmes is guilty, the documentary is far more interested in whether she is telling the truth, and whether anything captured on camera can ever really be trusted.
A24 dropped the first teaser on the same day as the Telluride premiere, and it went viral almost instantly. The short clip shows Fielder and Holmes locking eyes as she insists that she has nothing to deceive him about.
The full trailer arrived later in September and runs around two and a half minutes. It shows Fielder living with Holmes in the lead-up to her prison sentence. In one moment, she opens up about how long it took her to be comfortable letting someone see her cry, before a single tear rolls down her face.
Critics have been blown away. As of October 15, the documentary holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 55 reviews. FandomWire’s review of You Can See Everything awarded it a perfect 10/10, calling it a hilarious and fascinating look at its subject, and “one of the best films about the act of filmmaking.”
