York police said that as a result of an investigation by the York Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau (PSB), York Police Const. Kivijan Ketheeswaran was arrested and charged on Wednesday with unauthorized use of a computer and breach of trust by a public officer.
Ketheeswaran only commenced his employment with York Regional Police in October 2024 and worked as a uniform officer in 4 District.
York police said he has been placed on paid suspension since April 11, 2025, as a result of an ongoing PSB investigation.
The charged constable has been released from custody with conditions.
His first court appearance date is Sept. 8 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket.
Arrest and charges unrelated to Project South
This incident is not related to Project South.
In that investigation eight cops, seven active and one retired, were criminally charged by York Regional Police back in Feburary with two more officers suspended with pay and under investigation with possible charges under the Community Safety and Policing Act.
The seven officers accused in Project South – four of whom, in a rare move, have been suspended without pay – face criminal charges stemming from allegations that include a house being shot up and conspiracy to commit murder.
Peel Regional Police also suspended three officers in connection with the investigation.
Anyone with additional information related to this case is asked to contact the Professional Standards Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6688 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips, leave an anonymous tip online at 1800222tips.com.
