In recent times, writer Scott Snyder has made a big name for himself in pop culture thanks to his work on the Absolute Batman, which is among the highest-selling comic book series of 2025. And despite his involvement in one of, if not the most, popular DC publications at the moment, the writer recently gave a shoutout to one of Image Comics‘ ongoing series, titled Feral, on his X (@Ssnyder1835).
Feral is so good! Don’t sleep on this https://t.co/If4AMkMEhE
As the post highlights, the variant cover page of the upcoming Feral #25, created by writer Tony Fleecs, pays homage to Snyder’s ongoing Batman series, specifically the cover of Absolute Batman #13 featuring Absolute Catwoman in a similar art style. And credit where credit is due, Snyder always appreciates good comics and respects other creators who pay homage to his work.
What Is Image Comics’ Feral Series About?

The title tells the tale of a group of cats attempting to survive a rabies apocalypse that has swept through the world, without their owners.
The main characters in focus are Elsie, Lord Fluffy Britches, and Patch, three domestic cats that are on a quest to find their way back home without contracting the rabies infections that have swept many other animals into becoming aggressive and feral, hence the title of the series.
On its surface, Feral is a horror series written by Tony Fleecs, who previously wrote the Stray Dogs series for Image Comics as well, and focuses on environmental and body horror in the first issues.
Here’s an overview of Feral:
| Initial Release | Feral #1 (March 27, 2024) |
| Issues (As of April 18, 2026) | 21 |
| Creative Team | Writer: Tony Fleecs Artists: Tone Rodriguez, Trish Forstner |
| Publisher | Image Comics |
But deep down, as the issues are revealed, the story has become more of a survival and psychological horror, while the atmospheric horror has only enhanced the narrative even more. And with Scott Snyder’s stamp of approval, Feral becomes a worthwhile read for horror enthusiasts.

This may be the most recent instance of Scott Snyder recommending a comic series that isn’t his work, or even published by DC Comics, but it isn’t the first time that he has done so. In fact, Snyder has always appreciated and commended works from different authors and artists whose work he likes.
Fairly recently, we saw Snyder’s hype for Iron Man, a new series with the titular protagonist as the focus, written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Carmen Carnero and Nolan Woodard, and published by Marvel Comics. Despite being a different series and published by DC’s competition, the Absolute Batman writer couldn’t help but praise its amazing story and art.
This is just one of the few examples where Snyder has revealed that, more than personal projects, he’s in it for the love of comics and good stories above all else. His actions also back up his vision for the industry, where he claimed that writers should be taking creative swings and seeing what sticks, rather than keeping it safe, as that’s what stifles creativity (via Our Best Jackett).
And by his shoutouts and recommendations of other projects and comics that interest and excite, he’s making sure creativity is enjoyed by everyone.
