Why Was Quinn in The Vought Facility?
Quinn in The Boys Season 5 | Credits: Amazon StudiosThis season, many of the characters ended up in an old Vought medical facility at Fort Harmony. This place is where V-One trials were conducted with the likes of Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles. Introduced in the episode “King of Hell,” Quinn, played by Kris Hagen, was also one of the experiments.
Despite only a few people surviving in those trials, this new villain remained somewhat alive in the facility as a failed experiment. Quinn was left in the facility leading him to become a human-plant hybrid, stuck to the walls. His branches and spores were spreading out, allowing him to control more people and areas, leading to multiple characters turning on each other. The plant Supe’s powers lead people to feel hate and anger to a point where they attack each other.
Was Quinn Soldier Boy’s Brother?
There are fan theories that suggest the plant Supe is Soldier Boy’s brother, but there is no official confirmation to back this claim. In this episode, Frenchie repeatedly asked Soldier Boy to kill Quinn, but his request fell on deaf ears. As a result, he resorted to provoking Soldier Boy by personally attacking him with harsh words.
Well, Soldier Boy fired his V-frying blast, aiming for Frenchie, only for him to get away, leading to the Supe accidentally killing Quinn. So, can we exactly call them brothers after this interaction?
From Soldier Boy himself, fans learned that both he and Quinn were in the same facility being experimented on. However, as suggested by the fire blasting Supe, Quinn hated Soldier Boy.
The theory of the two being brothers came about when fans recently learned that Soldier Boy had a sibling more skilled in combat. The timing of a character being introduced who was a U.S soldier that Soldier Boy knew and was skilled in combat, does make the theory stronger.
That said, there is an alternative theory that suggests the plant Supe is not Soldier Boy’s brother, but is someone he clearly cared about in the past. As the episode ends, fans can see Soldier Boy breaking down over what he has done. Fans saw no emotion from Soldier Boy up until now, after Quinn’s death, suggesting the plant Supe was really close to Soldier Boy once.
What are Quinn’s Powers and Abilities?
Quinn in The Boys Season 5 | Credits: Amazon StudiosQuinn has mutated into a human-plant hybrid Supe with the V-One trial, who cannot move or attack in the usual way Supes do because he was one of the failed experiments. However, his powers are extremely dangerous, becoming a major threat to the team this season. He attacks emotionally, inducing anger and hatred inside a person, altering their brain chemistry.
The Supe’s attack leads to even friends turning on each other and wanting to kill each other. His powers are spread through his spores, which has incredible range, as fans could see bodies lying across and around the facility. The plant Supe’s power affects all humans, Supes, and animals alike. Just like all V-One experiments, Quinn was also immortal and resistant to the Godolkin virus, similar to Soldier Boy.
