Saoirse Ronan just dropped a truth bomb about Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Chronicles of Narnia, and honestly? We’re a little worried. While Gerwig’s magic touch turned Little Women into cinematic gold and Barbie into a worldwide sensation, stepping into Narnia’s enchanted world might be a different beast. Ronan, who’s no stranger to working with Gerwig, hinted at challenges that could test even the most skilled director. And let’s face it, Narnia fans are notoriously protective of their beloved land of talking animals and epic battles.

Could this adaptation meet expectations or miss the mark? Ronan’s candid confession has us on edge, wondering if this fairy-tale reboot might face more obstacles than we’d hoped. Fingers crossed!

Saoirse Ronan just hit us with a reality check about Greta Gerwig’s Chronicles of Narnia plans, and it’s not the news we were hoping for. During a chat with Jimmy Kimmel, Ronan casually dropped that she hasn’t been asked to join the upcoming film adaptations. Yeah, we’re as surprised as you are. Ronan asserted,

I mean there’s not there isn’t like no truth to it I she hasn’t asked me yet. She’s writing it…We have the kind of relationship where I just sort of go to her and I say, So I’ll be in this, just so you know. And she takes some time to think about it and then she goes, Okay. But she honestly hasn’t asked me about Narnia. I think she’s so kind of wrapped up in writing it right now.

This is big because Ronan and Gerwig are practically an iconic duo after Lady Bird and Little Women. Ronan usually has a go-to strategy where she tells Gerwig she will be in it and boom, it happens. But not this time—at least, not yet.

What’s even crazier’s that Ronan almost made it into Barbie too. She revealed she was supposed to be a weird Barbie alongside Kate McKinnon but had to back out because of her other movie, The Outrun. “I’m still devastated that I didn’t get to be in it,” she admitted.

As for Narnia, no official word on her joining, but with their history, we wouldn’t rule it out. The Ronan-Gerwig magic is real, and fans are still holding out hope that she’ll make her way into the fantasy world sooner or later. Seems like she’s always been circling those fantasy worlds!

Could 2025 Be Saoirse Ronan’s Year for That Elusive Oscar?

Saoirse Ronan’s basically an Oscars veteran at this point—four nominations, zero wins. She scored her first nod at just 13 for Atonement, then kept the streak going with Brooklyn, Lady Bird, and Little Women. But now, at 30, she’s coming in hot for the 2025 Academy Awards, with a shot at two awards—lead and supporting actress—for The Outrun and Blitz.

In The Outrun, she plays a woman battling alcoholism who heads back to Orkney to rediscover herself. It’s also her first time producing, and she definitely felt the grind behind the scenes. She asserted

There is a lot going on behind the scenes that actors are protected from, and sometimes I think it would be valuable for an actor to know the drama that exists when they’re not around. I think it might make people behave a little bit better and to know that it is sort of like a domino effect when there’s one thing that’s out of place, it really will affect everything else by you not getting on to a call at a certain time.

She added:

It’s very difficult to get an independent movie made and to try and source the money needed to just even pay people is difficult sometimes. So, yes, it’s just having an awareness of and the graft involved and that has definitely made me appreciate the movies that I’m on so much more where I am just an actor and I don’t have to worry about any of that stuff at all.

With Blitz also in the mix, could this finally be the year Ronan takes home the gold? We’re definitely betting on it.
