Taylor Sheridan can easily be the prominent face behind the iconic Yellowstone Universe. The same revelation was made by the show’s writer and executive producer Terence Winter.

While Winter exited the first season of the show due to several creative differences. After these issues were resolved he made a comeback for the second season, which was released in September of this year. And in a recent interview, had nothing but good words to add for the Rocky actor.

Terence Winter Detailed How Sylvester Stallone Played a Pivotal Role in Shaping Tulsa King 2

Terence Winter has had several decades of experience in the writing field. And has penned some of the most iconic shows out there. The most notable in this would be his participation as a writer and executive producer in James Gandolfini’s The Sopranos. He also wrote the screenplay of Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and was even nominated for an Academy Award for the same.

In the most recent times, his most significant work would be Taylor Sheridan‘s Tulsa King as a writer and executive producer. Interestingly, Winter was the showrunner of the first season but due to some behind-the-scenes creative drama, he exited the project. But putting all these issues aside, he returned for the second season, taking over the writing duties once again.

In a recent interview via TV Guide, he talked about the show as well as Sylvester Stallone, who plays the lead Dwight “The General” Manfredi. Apart from acting, the actor has also been very involved in other facets of production as well. On the same subject Winter said:

I honestly have only met Taylor in person one time two years ago. He wrote the original version of the pilot, like I said, and then I kind of took it over, so he hasn’t really been involved in the development or the production of the show. So I don’t really talk to him, we just do the show. It’s Stallone who’s really my creative partner here, and he’s phenomenal. With him, you don’t only get an actor, you get a writer, a producer, a director, an editor, all of it. He’s incredibly detail oriented and really invested in the show and in the character.

Winter also mentioned that Stallone was so perfect for the role, that he himself felt that the pilot almost felt tailor-made for him. And that he went above and beyond to perfectly capture the true essence of the mafia boss. Further, even after his acting responsibilities, he remains involved in other areas. This makes sense given that Stallone has also been credited as the writer of the show as well.

Taylor Sheridan Once Had a Physical Altercation With Yellowstone Star Cole Hauser

Throughout the years Taylor Sheridan has left no stone unturned to expand the Yellowstone franchise. From the ranch where the majority of the filming takes place to writing the major chunk of the show himself, the creator always strives for perfection. But in recent years he had to deal with a lot of controversies as well. The most pivotal of this is his differences with actor Kevin Costner.

While the duo has moved on their separate ways, a past interview revealed that he got into a physical fight with Yellowstone actor, Cole Hauser. Interestingly, Hauser plays the role of Rip Wheeler in the show and detailed his fight with the creator in an interview with Men’s Health. He said:

Does a bear s*** in the woods? I’ve probably been in one on every continent. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with fighting. Sometimes I’m just tired of words, so let’s beat the s*** out of each other. Maybe at the end of it you’ll buy me a Guinness and I’ll buy you a Bushmills, and we’ll be done. It’s kind of what guys do.

While the duo bumped heads multiple times, eventually they became good friends. But in recent years, this bond has stood the test of time. For instance, in 2023, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch filed a lawsuit against Causer’s coffee company, Free Rein. As his company’s logo looked quite similar to the creator’s company. While this lawsuit was eventually dropped, the duo’s relationship changed drastically after that.
