To put the latest score in context, here are the Rotten Tomatoes ratings for the main Toy Story films as of June 16, 2026:
| Movie | Rotten Tomatoes Rating (as of June 16, 2026) |

Andrew Stanton, directing a Toy Story film for the first time after his work on Finding Dory and WALL-E, helms the latest installment. The story is set a few years after the events of Toy Story 4, when Woody chose to leave Bonnie’s toys and join Bo Peep. In Woody’s absence, Jessie has taken over as the leader of Bonnie’s room, with Buzz Lightyear serving as her second-in-command.
The film’s central conflict revolves around Lilypad, a frog-like tablet device that becomes Bonnie’s new favorite, pushing her traditional toys aside and sparking a crisis that ultimately brings Woody back.
The premise feels especially timely, as it explores children’s screen time and the effect of technology on imagination. At the same time, it remains true to the franchise’s tradition of telling stories rooted in children’s real-world anxieties.
Alongside returning cast members Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Tony Hale, Keanu Reeves, Annie Potts, and Wallace Shawn, the film also introduces several newcomers. Greta Lee voices Lilypad, while Conan O’Brien plays a toy named Smarty Pants. The new cast also includes Craig Robinson, Bad Bunny, Ernie Hudson, and Alan Cumming, who voices an evil version of Bullseye. The screenplay is written by Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris.
