Weapons are a massive part of the One Piece anime and manga narrative – essentially elevating the power status of a character to a whole different level. While weapons are what define central characters like Roronoa Zoro and Dracule Mihawk, they are substantially enhanced as extensions of power for characters like Kaido and Shanks.
With that being said, let’s do a definitive breakdown of all the powerful weapons in the One Piece series and pick out the strongest – the crème de la crème – of them. We’ve also ranked the list by overall combination with their users and weapon strength.

10 Wado Ichimonji – Roronoa Zoro
Wado Ichimonji from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe Wado Ichimonji is a Great Grade sword from the One Piece anime series; it was originally owned by Kuina and later passed to Roronoa Zoro by her father, Koshiro, after its former owner’s death. It’s valued highly enough to hold its own against Supreme Grade blades without chipping, despite lacking a unique special ability like Enma or a Black Blade transformation like Shusui.
Furthermore, it was Zoro’s first sword in the entire series, holding a sentimental value that pushes it to this list compared to many others that didn’t make it here. Ranked 10th because its consistent reliability at the Great Grade tier is well-documented, but it has the least standout special trait among the entries on this list.
9 Hassaikai – Kaido
Hassaikai from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe former Yonko’s weapon of choice, the Hassaikai, a massive kanabo wielded by Kaido as his signature weapon, is unranked within the official sword-grading system, since it isn’t a blade, but is treated with the same legendary reverence. It complements his monstrous strength – withstanding direct clashes with elite swordsmen without damage.
Combined with his Dragon transformation, it turns him into a near-unstoppable force in extended combat. We ranked it at 9th because its raw durability and power are immense, but its ungraded status and blunt, less technical nature place it below the graded swords above it.
8 Enma – Kozuki Clan/Roronoa Zoro
Enma from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe Great Grade sword, Enma, is forged by master swordsmith Shimotsuki Kozaburo and is unique for drawing out far more Haki from its wielder than they can typically control. Originally belonging to Kozuki Oden, the sword was passed down to Roronoa Zoro, who struggled with its overwhelming power during the Wano Country Arc.
While it hasn’t yet “blackened” into a Black Blade, some in-story characters suggest it eventually could. Ranked #8 because its unique Haki-draining ability is exceptional and quite devastating, but it remains officially unconfirmed at Supreme Grade and below the Black Blade tier.
7 Shusui – Ryuma (Original)/Roronoa Zoro (Later)
Shusui from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationShusui is officially a Great Grade weapon from the series, and the only one that’s also a Black Blade – a status normally reserved for elite weapons. Once wielded by the legendary samurai Shimotsuki Ryuma, it became a national treasure of Wano Country. Zoro used it for years and then returned it to Wano during the war against Kaido, taking Enma in exchange.
While Shusui is one of the 21 Great Grade weapons, it also resembles every quality of a Supreme Grade, and the Wano Country recognition of its legendary status also made it stand out more. We had to rank it at 7th because its Black Blade status pushes it above other Great Grade swords, even though it officially ranks below the Supreme Grade tier.
6 Gryphon – Shanks
Shanks’ Gryphon from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThis one is an interesting entry on this list: Shanks’ saber, officially named Gryphon, has never been confirmed as Supreme Grade, but its performance strongly suggests it belongs there. It withstood direct blows from Whitebeard’s Murakumogiri and stopped Akainu’s magma as if it were nothing.
What makes his blade even more intimidating is that Shanks rarely draws it, making most of its true potential still a mystery to readers. But when it is drawn, well, we all know what he did with his rare Haki ability on Eustass Kid. Ranked 6th because its feats rival confirmed Supreme Grade weapons, but the lack of an official grade keeps it just below the verified entries.
5 Yakuza Kasen – Issho (Fujitora)
Yakuza Kasen from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationConfirmed as a Supreme Grade (via One Piece Wiki), Yakuza Kasen belongs to Admiral Fujitora, a blind swordsman who pairs it with his Zushi Zushi no Mi Devil Fruit. The combination lets him control terrain and trajectories on a massive scale while still relying on precise swordsmanship.
It hasn’t been shown in extended one-on-one duels, leaving its raw cutting power somewhat less demonstrated than others on this list. However, the grade and the uses we’ve seen so far justify its status on this list. In fact, we ranked it 5th because its confirmed Supreme Grade status is undeniable, but it has fewer dramatic showcases compared to the blades ranked above it.
4 Shodai Kitetsu – Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro
Shodai Kitetsu from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe first of the cursed Kitetsu blades – Shodai Kitetsu – is Supreme Grade and is currently wielded by Nusjuro of the Gorosei. It has cleanly bisected a ship’s figurehead and sliced through an entire research facility on Egghead Island in a single swing.
Like other Kitetsu swords, it’s said to curse weaker wielders with misfortune or death. It’s a distant relative of Sandai Kitetsu, the cursed blade Roronoa Zoro acquired in Loguetown. Ranked 4th because its real combat feats – leveling a fortified facility in one strike – are among the most destructive shown for any confirmed Supreme Grade blade.
3 Ace – Gol D. Roger
Ace from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationYes, Gol D. Roger‘s son Portgas D. Ace shares the name of his legendary sword, Ace. It served as the Pirate King’s trademark weapon and was never shown taking damage, even during his clashes with Whitebeard.
Roger reportedly chose the name for his future son, though it’s unconfirmed whether the sword influenced that choice. Despite its legendary owner, the blade itself was rarely shown in detailed combat. We ranked it 3rd because its Supreme Grade status and unblemished durability are confirmed, but it has fewer on-page combat showings than the swords above it.
2 Murakumogiri – Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)
Murakumogiri from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThis massive naginata, the Murakumogiri wielded by Whitebeard, is also confirmed as Supreme Grade – despite not being a traditional sword. Channeling Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi DF powers, it produced some of the largest-scale destruction shown in the series and remains undamaged even against other top-tier weapons and powers.
Its size matched Whitebeard’s towering presence, making it less about precision and more about overwhelming, world-shaking force – the perfect blade for the former world’s strongest man in One Piece. Ranked 2nd because, paired with Whitebeard’s Devil Fruit, it delivered destruction on a scale even other Supreme Grade weapons couldn’t match.
1 “Black Blade” Yoru – Dracule Mihawk
Yoru is one of the twelve strongest and highest-quality blades in the world, the Saijo O Wazamono (Supreme Grade) tier. And if that’s not already scary enough, it’s wielded by Dracule Mihawk, the world’s strongest swordsman. It’s also a Black Blade – an exceedingly rare state achieved through sustained Haki infusion that makes a sword nearly indestructible.
Mihawk handles its immense size with effortless precision, casually slicing through ships, icebergs, and rival blades. We had to rank it 1st because it combines Supreme Grade status with Black Blade durability and the skill of the world’s best swordsman – the strongest known combination in the series.
| RANKING | WEAPON | USER(S) |
| 1 | Yoru | Dracule Mihawk |
| 2 | Murakumogiri | Edward Newgate (Whitebeard) |
| 3 | Ace | Gol D. Roger |
| 4 | Shodai Kitetsu | Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro |
| 5 | Yakuza Kasen | Issho (Fujitora) |
| 6 | Gryphon | Shanks |
| 7 | Shusui | Ryuma/Roronoa Zoro |
| 8 | Enma | Kozuki Clan/Roronoa Zoro |
| 9 | Hassaikai | Kaido |
| 10 | Wado Ichimonji | Roronoa Zoro |
