When you’re beginning in Road to Vostok, one of the best tips is to store your weapons inside your cabin, ideally on the table. This is important because if you die while exploring, you will end up losing everything you’re carrying at that moment. You can always do a zero-to-hero run, but keeping backup gear ensures that you’re prepared for your next attempt. Since weapons take up a lot of inventory space, placing them on the table helps you manage your storage efficiently.
2 Exiting The Cabinets Resets the Town

So, once you’ve cleared the area, head back inside, stash your loot, then go out and run it again. This lets you farm continuously without worrying about running out of resources.
3 Use the Trader System

You can find the trader on Road to Vostok inside the red barn located outside your cabin, on the right. Head inside, and you will find him standing there, mumbling to himself. Speak to the trader, and see what items are available for trade. Keep in mind that his inventory resets every time you enter or leave your cabin, and it can also refresh if you purchase a large portion of his stock. While trading, pick the items you want, offer your own in return, and use the balance meter in the center to make fair, smart trades.
4 Prioritize Meds
Find meds. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Always prioritize meds in the shooter. They’re extremely rare, highly important, and not easy to come by. If you start bleeding, you can die quickly, and you won’t always have bandages when you need them. You will know when you’re bleeding if your health bar is slowly draining. While meds can spawn in various places, bathroom medicine cabinets, usually mounted on walls, have proven to be the most reliable spots in our experience. Bleeding out and losing all the loot you worked hard to collect can be incredibly frustrating.
5 Choose the Right Loadouts
The right loadouts can be game-changing. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Just like any shooter, your loadout plays a crucial role in Road to Vostok, especially when you are just starting out. From our experience and testing in the game, the ideal setup for loot runs includes a gun, one magazine, a backpack, a bandage, and a small stack of ammo. Backups are particularly important in this game, as they can increase the amount of loot you can carry early on. This simple loadout helps maximize your loot while still keeping you prepared to deal with the dangers that you will, of course, run into.
6 Loot Can Spawn in Containers & Ground
Loot can be found in a lot of places. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Many players assume that loot is only available inside containers, but that’s not entirely true. Loot can also spawn directly on the ground, and a lot of it is easy to overlook. So, it’s always a good idea to stay sharp and thoroughly check areas around tents, near doorways, and other random spots inside the house. There are way more loot points in the game than you might expect, and with each run, you will continue discovering new places to find valuable items.
7 Optimize Keybinds
Get the right keybinds. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Changing your keybinds is highly recommended. While they’re ultimately personal preferences, the default setup isn’t ideal, and tweaking it can make the game feel much smoother. A good starting point is to move your left- and right-lean controls to your mouse, which makes room-clearing much more fluid and helps you gather information on enemy positions more effectively. You should also set your interact key to F so that looting and searching are easier. Also, make sure to bind your flashlight toggle to T for easier access during gameplay.
8 Don’t Overextend Against Bandits
Don’t fight too hard against bandits in Road to Vostok. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Always play smart when you’re dealing with bandits in Road to Vostok. They’re highly accurate and easy to spot from a distance, so avoid exposing yourself unnecessarily. Stay behind cover and use quick peeks to figure out their positions. In the early forest area, bandits typically don’t wear armor, making headshots especially effective. Since ammo is limited at the start, don’t spray your shots. Take your time, line them up, and aim for clean one-taps.
9 Equip an Alarm Clock to See Time
A clock can help you. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Always make it a priority to find an alarm clock. Once you have equipped one, you can easily check the time of day by looking at it. This can be very useful when deciding whether you want to keep looting or head back to rest before daylight arrives.
10 Equip a Flashlight
A flashlight can guide you through the dark. | Credits: YouTube Ghost_xi3Another essential item to equip as soon as possible is a flashlight. You can attach it to your character and toggle it on or off using the T button. It’s especially useful when you’re in dark areas. Later in the game, you can upgrade it to night vision goggles, which offer an even better solution for low-light situations.
