The Office Creator’s Netflix Masterpiece Officially Confirmed to End After Season 3

Detective Charles Nieuwendyk will return for one last case. Netflix‘s A Man on the Inside starring Ted Danson as Nieuwendyk, is ending with the upcoming Season 3, which is currently in production, reports Deadline. Netflix has announced on Septemebr 23 that the comedy series, helemed by The Office creator Mike Schur, has officially started filming in San Francisco, CA. Schur said, “We are thrilled to be able to conclude his journey with one final chapter, as embodied by the great Ted Danson, who I am legally required to refer to as a national treasure.”

The creator also discussed how the series began with a retiree taking a chance at a new life, and then spinned in Charles Nieuwendyk proving life only slows down if you let it. However, neither Schur nor Netflix have officially addressed the show ending with Season 3. So, the reason reamin undisclosed. Alongside Danson, series regulars Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, Eugene Cordero, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, and Mary Steenburgen will return in A Man on the Inside Season 3.

When Is A Man on the Inside Season 3 Releasing on Netflix?

Netflix renewed the series for Season 3 back in February 2026, and the production has already began for the new season. However, there is no official confirmation about the release date now. A Man on the Inside premiered on Netflix on November 21, 2024 and Season 2 arrived on a year later on November 20, 2025.

According to the streamer, this time Ted Danson‘s Charles Nieuwendyk will take on another undercover investigation. He is hired by Coco Van Beck (Bernadette Peters), a prominent philanthropist, who wants to find out who is behind the sabotage of her charity work. Thhrough the case, the detective enters a complete new world of San Francisco high society, while encountering a new group of suspects.

Apart from Bernadette Peters, Season 3 also had additional new cast including Annette O’Toole, Christopher McDonald, Diedrich Bader, Jessica St. Clair, Nick Offerman, Rachel Dratch, and Stephen Root. What do you think about the series ending? Let us know in the comments.
