Absolute Batman #25 Officially Reveals Ultra Brutal First Look Cover

Absolute Batman has been an absolutely crazy comic book series that has been running since October 2024. With the comic book’s 25th volume on the horizon, the first look at the covers of the comic book has been revealed, and they are absolutely crazy.

Written by iconic writer Scott Snyder, Absolute Batman features special covers by industry legends including Nick Dragotta, Greg Capullo, Mark Brooks, and J. Scott Campbell. The iconic covers for Absolute Batman #25 have been shared on X. Check out some of these cool covers below:

Featuring a brutal Batman who is surprisingly smiling in the cover art, these images accurately represent the amount of craziness that is present in the comic books. For those unversed, Absolute Batman reimagines the classic fight between Batman and the Joker, but this time, with roles reversed.

Absolute Batman #25‘s Covers Reflect the Absolute Crazy Story of Batman

The comic book is a reimagined story set in the DC Comics universe where Bruce Wayne is born to Thomas Wayne, an elementary school teacher, and Martha Wayne, a social worker. Growing up in Crime Alley without much wealth to his name, Thomas Wayne is killed during a mass shootout at the Gotham City Zoo, leaving Bruce Wayne to live alone with his mother.

Without having money, this version of Bruce Wayne is a 24-year-old blue-collar civil engineer who operates at night as Batman. Fighting crime with his self-designed equipment and armor, Wayne is stalked by an MI6 agent, Alfred Pennyworth.

On the other hand, the Joker is reconceived as an entrenched, wealthy antagonist! It was also revealed by artist Nick Dragotta (via ThePopVerse) that the 25th edition is “kind of a turning point”. Scott Snyder added that in Issue No. 25, we have our first big “confrontation between Joker and Batman”.

Naturally, the covers needed to go so hard if you had to feature the first-ever major 1-on-1 confrontation between the lead and the villain, especially when the previous 24 issues led up to this moment.

How Absolute Batman Breaks Batman’s Every Ideological Framework

With a poor Bruce Wayne and a rich Joker, Absolute Batman completely flipped the pages on the ideologies and moralities that the world had known about Bruce Wayne. Growing up in Crime Alley, this blue-collar civil engineer is quite different than the son of a rich Thomas Wayne and the owner of Wayne Enterprises.

Scott Snyder has described Absolute Batman as a deliberate inversion of the classic Batman tale (via Games Radar). Putting Bruce Wayne in circumstances that force him to choose, Snyder described the project as Bruce being “chaos and anarchy,” while noting that the more villainous characters are “order, the system”.

Being a mature take on the world of Batman, the series also engages with contemporary political concerns like gun violence and institutional corruption, and a rugged Batman wanting to fight it all with nothing but his self-made tech.
