Boruto Officially Reveals Its Blackbeard-Inspired Ability in Konoha’s Newest Sharingan User

In the anime universe, some abilities feel strangely familiar even when they come from completely different worlds. Boruto has now given Sarada Uchiha a Mangekyo Sharingan ability that creates black spheres with immense gravitational force, making it hard not to think of One Piece‘s Blackbeard.

Sarada’s newly introduced “Ohirume” is not simply another powerful Uchiha technique. It gives her control over forces that can pull in and crush targets, while also coming with a serious cost. Interestingly, that puts her new power surprisingly close to one of Blackbeard‘s most dangerous abilities.

Boruto Reveals Sarada’s Black Hole Mangekyo Sharingan Ability

Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan ability, Ohirume, was introduced in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 20 when she unleashes this devastating technique during a high-stakes battle against Ryu. Then, Chapter 21 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex revealed further by showing that the technique lets her create multiple black spheres. Despite their small size, these spheres can produce an enormous gravitational pull.

This is what makes Sarada’s new ability so different from the usual Sharingan powers. Instead of simply throwing another attack at an enemy, she can control the space around her. She can change the strength of the gravitational force and choose what gets pulled toward the spheres. That level of control makes Ohirume feel less like a normal jutsu and more like Sarada is carrying several miniature black holes into battle.

The technique becomes even more interesting because Sarada can use the spheres for movement. When she targets a living person, the gravitational force also affects her. By carefully moving the spheres, she can balance that force and use it to levitate and fly at high speed.

There is, however, a major weakness. Ohirume consumes a huge amount of chakra, and repeated use of the Mangekyo Sharingan continues to damage Sarada’s eyesight. Like other Mangekyo users, she risks eventually losing her sight. That drawback gives the ability a much-needed limit, because Sarada cannot simply keep creating black holes without paying a heavy price.

Blackbeard’s Devil Fruit Has a Similar Gravity Power in One Piece

The Blackbeard comparison becomes obvious when looking at the Yami Yami no Mi. Marshall D. Teach’s Devil Fruit in One Piece allows him to create and control darkness, but its darkness is far more dangerous than ordinary shadows. The Devil Fruit has the power of attraction, pulling everything into its darkness and even taking away other Devil Fruit abilities.

That is where Ohirume feels surprisingly familiar. Sarada creates black spheres that pull targets toward them with tremendous force, while Blackbeard uses darkness itself as a powerful source of attraction. The two abilities work differently, but both turn a dark-looking force into something that can drag enemies toward it.

There is also an important difference. Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi is not simply a gravity power, and its ability to cancel other Devil Fruit powers is one of its biggest advantages. Moreover, Blackbeard also possesses the Gura Gura no Mi, giving him another completely separate power and making him the only officially confirmed One Piece character wielding two Devil Fruits.

Sarada’s Ohirume, meanwhile, is built around controlled gravitational spheres. It gives her an unusual way to attack, defend, and move across the battlefield, but the damage to her eyesight keeps the technique from feeling limitless, at least for now.
