Spoiler Warning for Squid Game Season 2

Much like Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game season 1 took over Netflix, to become one of the most watched foreign language shows on the streamer, even season 2 continued that very trend. Leaving people baffled by the games and the nail-biting suspense surrounding the characters, the new installment became an instant favorite for fans.

Meanwhile, upon completing Squid Game season 2 and gearing up for more episodes in the upcoming installment, there appeared an explosive milk theory that could change the course of things in the show. Many viewers believe that Lee Byung-hun’s the Front Man aka Hwang In-ho is actually the son of the old man, the original creator, Oh Il-nam (O Yeong-su).

Fans came up with a baffling milk theory upon completing Squid Game S2

It’s been merely four days since the release of Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game season 2, and the majority of fans have already completed binge-watching the highly anticipated show. So much so, that fans have now invested themselves in peeling layers and looking deep within the storyline.

This led people to come up with an intriguing milk theory that seems to hold the ability to change the course of events in the upcoming third and final season. Remember, back in S1 when Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-hun had refused to take the milk since it caused him digestive issues, the old man Oh Il-nam aka Player 001 had compared his son with Gi-hun—yes, that’s where the theory began.

Fast-forward to Squid Game season 2, we again see a player refusing to drink the milk. Guess who it is? Player 001, Hwang In-ho aka The Front Man. In the particular sequence (watch on Instagram), he can be seen offering up his milk to Player 222, because he can’t drink it. Well, this sparked a connection between Lee Byung-hun’s character and the old man Oh Il-nam.

The milk theory reveals the true identity of the Front Man, aka Player 001

Now, according to the above-mentioned milk theory, the popular Instagram account @justthenobodys came up with an interesting revelation about The Front Man and his background. Given how it’s already known that Lee Byung-hun’s character has an older brother of Detective Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon) and a mother, the netizens went on to dig deeper into his father.

Although The Front Man aka Player 001 had previously told Lee Jung-jae’s Seong Gi-hun about his dead father, fans believe that his father was previously in Squid Game S1, and he’s none other than the old man Oh Il-nam, who was later revealed as the secret creator of the games. This proved why The Front Man was there standing by Il-nam’s deathbed in S1—because he was actually his son.

Fans believe the son Oh Il-nam was referring to in S1, who hated drinking milk, was actually The Front Man—who could later be seen offering up his milk to another player in S2, after he joined the game, disguised as Player 001. Perhaps that’s why both Oh Il-nam (the creator of the games) as well as Hwang In-ho aka The Front Man appeared in the game as Player 001.

Well, if this theory turns out to be true, then it might prove why Player 001 betrayed Lee Jung-jae‘s Seong Gi-hun, after all. Apart from the fact that he’s The Front Man, who had to ruin Gi-hun’s plan to keep continuing the game, it seems there’s a deeper reason that dates back to S1. Remember when Gi-hun had previously betrayed Oh Il-nam (The Front Man’s possible father) and caused his death after tricking him into believing that he lost because of his dementia?

Yes, perhaps that’s the reason why Player 001 eventually betrayed Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game S2, to exact revenge after he had previously betrayed Oh Il-nam in S1, just to stay alive and play the game.

Squid Game season 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix.
