30 Rock remains one of TV’s most beloved comedy series. It was awarded 16 Emmys in its 7-year stint at NBC. What really set the show apart was both the fast humor and the characters that fans still remember. Developed by Tina Fey and mostly inspired by her own work for Saturday Night Live as a head writer, the show depicted fictional sketches of the working environment of an NBC sketch comedy show.
Most memorable performances from the show were delivered by characters like manipulative executive Jack Donaghey played by Alec Baldwin, and Liz Lemon portrayed by Tina Fey among many others. As we enter 2025, the actors who made viewers laugh for seven seasons have followed different careers.
Jack McBrayer
As the suspicious, immortal, optimistic NBC page, Kenneth Parcell, Jack McBrayer introduced one of 30 Rock’s favorite characters. It was enough to give him an Emmy nomination for the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, where McBrayer brilliantly played a wide-eyed Southern boy who knew everything about television.
Following his time in 30 Rock, McBrayer mostly focused on voice acting and worked in many popular animated shows. He portrayed Fix-It Felix Jr. in Wreck-It Ralph and in its sequel and starred as the title character in Wander Over Yonder.
His distinctive voice has become a regular presence in shows like Phineas and Ferb, Bob’s Burgers, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. Besides voice acting, he also worked in shows and movies like The Big Bang Theory, Drunk History, Key and Peele, and Unfrosted, among others.
For the past few years, McBrayer has worked on projects promoting kindness and positivity. He co-created and starred in the Apple TV+ show Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show. Because of his gentle approach to humor, he continues to do family-friendly content, as well as adult animation.
In 2025, McBrayer will be seen hosting HGTV’s Zillow Gone Wild, which has been renewed for another season after it became the network’s highest-rated freshman series. Apart from that, he is appearing alongside actors like Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming movie You’re Cordially Invited. McBrayer will also be continuing his role in Grey’s Anatomy.
Tina Fey
Tina Fey’s portrayal of Liz Lemon struck a chord with working women everywhere, teaching them that it’s okay if success isn’t living the ideal of having it all. Starring in and writing 30 Rock, Fey quickly became one of television’s most influential comedians, receiving multiple Emmy nominations and critical acclaim.
After 30 Rock, Fey has continued to work as a creator and entertainer. She also created the Netflix show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and was featured in movies such as Sisters, Wine Country, Soul, and others.
She was both the screenwriter and lyricist of the 2004 movie Mean Girls, which she later adapted as a stage musical adaptation and also produced as a movie adaptation in 2024. She converted the project for a new generation while staying true to what made it popular in the first place.
Fey is now preparing for 2025 as she diversifies her creative talent portfolio. She is developing The Four Seasons miniseries for Netflix, where she has written the script for adapting the 1981 movie with the help of Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield. She is also expected to return to Only Murders in the Building, where her character is Cinda Canning, who might reveal if she is the real Moriarty of the show.
Tracy Morgan
Tracy Morgan played Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock and showed an edgy but wise comic role. He earned an Emmy nomination for his work and did a great job portraying how one can make any situation, no matter how over-the-top, seem grounded.
Morgan was back in entertainment after a serious accident early in the year 2014. His voice acting is seen in projects like Scoob! and The Simpsons, and he appeared in films and shows like What Men Want, Coming 2 America, TBS’ The Last O.G., The Neighborhood, and The Santa Clauses.
Morgan has continued to work as a stand-up comedian, though he occasionally acts. He has never let go of his energy, and his SNL performances keep portraying his sketch comedy roots.
2025 seems to bring him back to TV as the star of a new comedy for Paramount+, Crutch. In this show, he portrays Francois “Frank” Crutchfield, a Harlem widower whose empty nest plans get changed when his children and grandchildren return home.
The show is based in the universe of CBS’ The Neighborhood show, in which Morgan was a guest star. He is also expected back to stage performing his stand-up in February 2025 as his tour got rescheduled.
Jane Krakowski
Jane Krakowski showed the perfect mixture of talent with narcissism through her character, Jenna Maroney, which made television witness one of the shows’ most unhinged, enjoyable characters. Krakowski was nominated four times for the Emmy award in the category Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, making her a big name in the field of comedy.
After the show, fans continued to see Krakowski’s versatility. She was in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt again with Tina Fey and earned another Emmy nomination. In TV series, like Dickinson and Schmigadoon!, she showed her ability to adjust her comedy to whichever era the shows came from.
Her voice work has brought characters to life in animated shows like The Willoughbys and My Little Pony: A New Generation. She has also continued theater. Her recent works come in films and TV shows like Your Christmas or Mine 2 and Elsbeth.
Krakowski is coming back to London’s West End theater in Stephen Sondheim’s Here We Are. The National Theatre production will have her act together with performers like Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Martha Plimpton.
Scott Adsit
Scott Adsit as Pete Hornberger at TGS brought some of 30 Rock‘s darkest laughs. Adsit’s experience in Chicago’s Second City gave him the tools to give the audience someone who was both sympathetic and funny.
However, after his time on 30 Rock, Adsit has gotten good work in voiceovers. His most well-known character to date remains Baymax of Big Hero 6 and its television series adaptation. He’s appeared in live-action shows like Veep and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, as well as continued to lend his voice to animations.
His work has gone on to video games such as Kingdom Hearts III and Disney Infinity. However, he has returned to TV and recently worked in Carol & the End of the World and Megamind Rules! As Adsit steps into 2025, he appears in the legal theme-derived drama show Elsbeth, in which he features as Chaz Molano, a defense lawyer to Deliah.
Judah Friedlander
As Frank Rossitano, Judah Friedlander came with his deadpan comedy. He gave the viewers some of the most memorable one-liners with visual gags.
It seems that after the show ended, Friedlander continued to focus on his stand-up comedy but had some TV and movie work, like The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Can You Keep a Secret?
His recent stand-up has added socio-political elements to his comedy alongside the usual self-deprecating humor. He has released and performed comedy specials, building on his reputation as “The World Champion” of comedy, and continues to do so.
Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy was one of the best-created characters in TV history, for which he won two Emmy Awards. His cocky attitude as a corporate executive and his occasional vulnerability were a perfect antidote to Liz Lemon’s progressive ideals.
After 30 Rock, Baldwin appeared in many films, including Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation, Fallout, and Blue Jasmine. He has also voice acted in The Boss Baby franchise and continues to work on shows and guest-starring roles on television.
Recent years have brought some legal challenges for Baldwin due to the accident on the set of the movie Rust. However, as of now, the prosecutors dismissed their appeal to reinstate charges against him, to an extent resolving the matter.
For the future in 2025, Baldwin will be seen with his wife Hilaria in the TV project The Baldwins, which will be shot for TLC. The show will portray their normal family life with seven children to the viewers. He’s also starring in Hollywood Heist as well as in the family movie Kid Santa.
Many of the main cast members of 30 Rock went through changes in their careers while retaining the comedic acts that made the show a success. From West End theater to reality TV, from stand-up comedy to video games to animation roles, the cast has diversified their roles, and their upcoming works show that they haven’t lost any of their ability to entertain and surprise audiences.
30 Rock is available to stream on Hulu and Peacock Premium.
