Deadpool & Wolverine had some pleasant surprises that did not feel like cheap fan service. While the extended appearances thrilled fans, they played a pivotal part in the film’s narrative and each had a defining moment amidst the chaos. Additionally, the film had some clever easter eggs and references that fans loved.

One of the film’s highlights was Deadpool’s first appearance in the TVA where he is informed about his universe disintegrating. Deadpool sees various scenes from the MCU on various TVA monitors and one scene stands out. In one of the screens, Thor is seen crying over Deadpool, who is lying down on the ground, presumably after getting injured.

Fans have been wondering about this scene that takes place in the future and the reason behind Chris Hemsworth‘s character showing significant emotion to someone he’s never even met. Ryan Reynolds recently released a BTS image of the scene and it shows that a stand-in actor stepped in for Hemsworth.

Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool & Wolverine saw a slew of fantastic cameos and extended appearances from actors like Chris Evans, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, etc to spice things up. Before the film came out, it was highly rumored that Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhanney would make a cameo in the film.

In a recent Instagram post, the Safe House actor revealed that McElhenney’s sequence in the film was not working in the way that they hoped. While he tried his best to find ways to put his close friend in the film, the Deadpool star had to eventually remove him from the film, which he hated doing. He wrote,

While editing a movie, they say you sometimes have to kill your darlings. And with a heavy heart (and through great outside intervention) I had to kill a darling with this cameo. The sequence wasn’t working the way we’d originally constructed it. Rob was the only reason it stayed in the cut for as long as it did because even under a TVA mask and helmet, you can feel him smoldering with a raw and almost infinite reservoir of talent and writerly wit…

McElhenney was supposed to play a TVA agent in the film and It would have been cool to see his character have a quick banter with Reynolds (even a Wrexham reference with him), but things didn’t pan out. Deadpool & Wolverine is chugging along at the box office (via Variety), performing better than recent releases even after a month of release. The film is still going strong in theatres worldwide.
