zenitsu, muichiro

SUMMARY

  • Beyond the cowardly exterior, Zenitsu was always an extremely skilled and strong fighter.
  • He gave us some of the best fighting scenes in the series with his speed and slashes.
  • His immense potential makes him the only character capable of breaking Muichiro's record.

One character who surprised all of us with his powers in Demon Slayer was Zenitsu. Who knew he had so much potential and power beyond the supposedly weak exterior? The character has clearly come a long way, and the best way to gauge his true potential is to compare his strength against the strongest character of the series.

If I had to compare his strength with that of one of the other characters, I’d make the bold claim that Zenitsu is the only character who can match the feats of Tokito Muichiro. While his strength is not yet comparable with the youngest Hashira, he does have the potential to break the records set by Muichiro.

How Strong is Zenitsu in Demon Slayer

Zenitsu’s strongest weapon in Demon Slayer is his thunderous speed. He slashes his opponents quicker than they even realize what has happened. For the same reason, he can defend himself with the help of his quick reflexes. Throughout the story, we see glimpses of training the central trio undergoes. Their hard training is reflected in their well-built physiques and raw strength.

Zenitsu’s breathing style is Thunder Breathing. Plus, his sense of hearing is exceptional. The speed, a breathing style compatible with his natural talent, and the other heightened senses clearly put him among the strongest characters in the series. Zenitsu is also quite perceptive in battle, this ability allows him to decide on the right approach depending on his opponent.

As for Muichiro, he’s the youngest Hashira and the only one who rose to the prestigious rank in just two months. He stood his ground against Upper Moon One. He’s also one of the only characters who was able to defeat an Upper Moon member all by himself. This was during the Swordsmith Village Arc and his opponent was Gyokko.

Without any assistance or help, Muichiro effortlessly took down Gyokko at the end, who was Upper Moon Five at the time. This impressive feat is something unique to Muichiro. However, I truly believe that Zenitsu has showed the potential to beat him in this respect.

During the Entertainment District Arc, Zenitsu played a huge role in defeating Daki. There were multiple instances throughout the fight when Inosuke was stressed. He couldn’t comprehend the way forward. However, Zenitsu maintained his calm and guided Inosuke as well. Without him, they would have failed to defeat Daki. Zenitsu’s presence in that fight was the most reassuring for me.

From that point to the training they experienced, Zenitsu underwent immense growth. His wit and his physical capabilities instilled confidence that he could stand his ground against the strongest opponents.

Muichiro always had the potential and his lineage played a role in his overall strength. On the other hand, with his speed alone, Zenitsu could attack his opponents by surprise. Daki could hardly follow him with her eyes during their fight. It’s true that Gyokko was stronger than Daki and Zenitsu would probably have a hard time if he had to face Gyutaro and Daki at the same time. And even though Kaigaku was a newer demon, Zenitsu defeated him.

He beat the Upper Moon Six with a new form of his breathing style that he created on his own. Before him, only Giyu and Muichiro have been able to do that. By defeating an Upper-Rank demon, Zenitsu has nearly surpassed Muichiro. There’s still some considerable difference between their strengths. Zenitsu’s growth might have materialized into reality sooner if there wasn’t a ticking clock on his head. However, he has proved himself to be capable of reaching the level of the youngest Hashira.
