Ted Lasso Season 4 has officially surpassed Vince Gilligan’s Pluribus in Apple TV’s launch rankings. The Season 4 premiere drew 296.6 million minutes watched across August 4 and August 5, 2026, according to Nielsen data reported by Variety. That makes the episode the biggest launch in Apple TV history, ahead of previous Ted Lasso seasons as well as major platform titles such as Severance and Gilligan’s Pluribus. Nielsen also recorded more than 200 million minutes watched in the U.S. on August 5 alone, making Ted Lasso the most-streamed program in the country that day. Variety further estimated 7.1 million views for the 42-minute premiere, which gives the comeback extra bite.

Gilligan hardly needs an introduction. Breaking Bad became one of television’s defining dramas, while Better Call Saul extended that reputation before he reunited with Rhea Seehorn for the sci-fi series Pluribus.

Ted Lasso’s 296.6 million Nielsen minutes and Pluribus’ 6.4 million viewing hours shouldn’t be compared directly, since they use different measurement windows/methodologies. Still, Nielsen’s latest result puts Ted Lasso above Pluribus in Apple TV’s overall launch hierarchy. Gilligan arrived with enormous goodwill from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, while Pluribus had the advantage of mystery, novelty, and Rhea Seehorn leading a completely new world. Rotten Tomatoes lists Season 1 at 99%, while Ted Lasso Season 4 sits at 90% from 89 reviews. That gap makes the ratings result more intriguing. Critical consensus may favor Gilligan’s stranger, darker experiment, but viewers have handed Sudeikis the launch crown. Familiarity can be a dangerous crutch in television, yet Ted Lasso has turned it into an advantage.
