Lionsgate is officially moving forward with The Housemaid sequel, titled The Housemaid’s Secret, and Sydney Sweeney has found her newest co-star. Breakout actor Stephen Kalyn, best known for stealing hearts as Dean Di Laurentis in Prime Video’s smash-hit romantic drama Off-Campus, has formally joined the cast of the highly anticipated psychological thriller sequel. Lionsgate and The Housemaid‘s official Instagram handles announced it with a short clip featuring Kalyn reading The Housemaid’s Secret, the second book of Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid series.
Directed once again by Paul Feig, the follow-up to the box-office blockbuster The Housemaid will see Sweeney reprise her role as the dangerously resourceful housekeeper, Millie Calloway. Kalyn’s casting brings major romantic intrigue to the second installment of Freida McFadden’s bestselling BookTok franchise, marking a massive leap from college sports drama directly into Hollywood’s most twisted thriller universe.
The Housemaid 2 Finds Sydney Sweeney’s New Love Interest in Stephen Kalyn
In the upcoming sequel, Kalyn is set to portray Brock Cunningham, a handsome and ambitious lawyer whom Millie begins dating as she attempts to build a normal, quiet life. Having spent years fighting back against abusive households and taking justice into her own hands, Millie tries to keep her romance with Brock grounded in normalcy. However, Brock remains completely oblivious to Millie’s secret vigilante exploits and complicated criminal history.
Kalyn joins an already stellar ensemble that features Dunst, Kelly, Brittany Snow as an unassuming corporate receptionist named Marybeth, and Michele Morrone, who reprises his fan-favorite role as Enzo. Rebecca Sonnenshine returns to pen the script, with Sweeney also producing under her production banner alongside Feig and Todd Lieberman.
The official synopsis of the film reads:
In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see, only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.
Kalyn’s transition from the breezy, romantic tension of Off-Campus to a pulse-pounding psychological thriller marks a defining moment in his meteoric rise. Pairing his charming screen presence with Sweeney’s sharp, layered performance promises to deliver the exact kind of high-wire domestic suspense that made the first film a global sensation.
As production gears up, fans can expect the sequel to push the franchise’s trademark web of deception, toxic secrets, and deadly twists to even darker heights. Especially, it remains to be seen how the sequel follows up the ending of The Housemaid.
