Jackson Lamb and his gloriously dysfunctional MI5 rejects are heading back into the firing line, and Slow Horses Season 6 looks determined to make Slough House considerably less safe than usual. Apple TV’s latest chapter adapts two Mick Herron novels, Joe Country and Slough House, while bringing Olivia Cooke’s Sid Baker back into the story after an absence stretching all the way to Season 1.

Gary Oldman returns as the gloriously disagreeable Jackson Lamb, joined by Jack Lowden and the returning Slow Horses ensemble. BAFTA winner Lenny Rush is among the new additions. Apple’s Jay Hunt previously summed up the appeal neatly, saying audiences around the world had “fallen in love with the Slow Horses” while promising another “acerbic and action-packed adventure.” Judging by the trailer, nobody at Slough House is being rewarded for surviving five seasons with an easier workload.

Slow Horses Season 6 officially premieres on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, on Apple TV. Apple has confirmed six episodes, with one new installment arriving each week until the finale on October 21.There is a small wrinkle for viewers waiting up on premiere night. Apple’s press release gives the official Wednesday date but does not publish an exact hour. Decider reports that Season 6 becomes available early at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 15 in the U.S. If that reported simultaneous release holds for subsequent weeks, the corresponding times are below.

The season remains refreshingly compact. Apple has officially confirmed the premiere and finale dates plus the weekly cadence, giving us this six-week schedule.

Slow Horses Season 5 started with a mass shooting at Abbotsfield and slowly exposed a broader destabilization campaign. By the finale, Farouk’s team was preparing another massacre at the same location. River, Shirley, and Coe helped stop the attack, while Lamb once again demonstrated that the supposedly washed-up agents of Slough House tend to be several moves ahead of the people running MI5.

River spotted one last sting in the tail and raced to save First Desk Claude Whelan from an assassin. Whelan tried to shut down Slough House, but Lamb blackmailed him with incriminating audio, while Diana Taverner emerged as the new First Desk. The finale also pulled back the curtain on Lamb’s past: his scarred foot confirmed that his Cold War torture story was at least partly personal, revealing a rare crack in his gruff armor.

Season 6 immediately raises the temperature. Apple’s official synopsis says the Slow Horses will be on the run after Taverner embroils them in a “fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.” The season combines Joe Country and Slough House, meaning the series is folding two Herron novels into a single six-episode run for the first time. The biggest curveball is Sid Baker. Olivia Cooke’s character was shot in Season 1 and vanished, but Apple has confirmed her return, with promo images reuniting her with River and hinting that the long-dormant mystery is finally resurfacing.

Hugo Weaving’s Frank Harkness also returns, while assassins target the Slow Horses and Diana Taverner’s new role raises the stress inside the Park.
