There are a slew of character traits that define Dean Winchester, and there are some that the character has in common with his actor, Jensen Ackles. The elder Winchester brother is known for his fondness of guns, and also how much he enjoys a good brew.
Jensen Ackles is no stranger to liking beer either, so much so that the actor opened his own brewery in 2018. Named after one of his catchphrases in the show, Family Bussiness Brewing Co. is based in Texas, on a 15-acre patch of land owned by the actor.
Jensen Ackles’ brewery lives up to its name
At the end of the day, Dean is a family man, and the same can be said about Jensen Ackles. The actor, named his brewery after a catchphrase in Supernatural, referring to the Winchesters’ family history with demon hunting, shares his venture with his wife and brother-in-law.
Gino Graul, his brother-in-law, is an owner as per the brewery’s website, along with himself and his wife, Danneel Ackles. The point of making the brewery and making his own beer came to Ackles when he was stashing one of the Smallville co-stars pilot brew systems, which evolved into him serving up his own creations to his closest friends and family.
This is completely on brand for not one, but two of Jensen Ackles’ characters. Dean Winchester and Soldier Boy would totally be up for brewing their own alcohol, while also making money off of it. While the characters could not be more different, can we not see Vought making a Soldier Boy-inspired line of beer to pander to its audiences, or Dean Winchester retiring from hunting to launch a brewery of his own?
Supernatural had so much potential when it came to spin-offs
There were a slew of possibilities for Supernatural to expand its story which was told across fifteen seasons.
The show seems to be cursed when it comes to spin-offs, given that a slew of interesting stories in development found themselves scrapped, and a few more were straight-up canceled. Be it The Winchesters, backdoor pilots like Bloodlines of Wayward Sisters, or even the discussed spin-off about the legendary hunter in the Wild West, Samuel Colt, The CW categorically was not sure about the spin-offs and ended up axing the one that made it through the bulwark of quality control.
Supernatural does not need new content to be relevant to new fans, given that its appeal lies in its old-time feel, like long-running shows such as Doctor Who and even shows like HIMYM and The Big Bang Theory.
