Steal an Egg: How to Get Spectral Mutation (Halloween Mutation)

Spectral Mutation is the headline reward tied to the Halloween Dimension update in Roblox’s Steal an Egg, and players chasing a bigger payout this October have their eyes on it. Unlocking it ultimately means working through the game’s limited-time Corrupted Realm, finishing a ghostly quest line, riding a haunted train, and trading a spooky currency called Souls for a shot at the mutation.

The Spectral Mutation isn’t something players stumble into by hatching regular eggs. It’s locked behind the Halloween Dimension event, which arrived on October 17 and runs through October 24, 2026. Here’s how to unlock it:

• Find the Halloween portal near the Trails Shop at spawn and step through it to reach the Corrupted Realm, which is the event’s dedicated map.
• Track down Echo, a wandering ghost dog, and complete the quest tied to his lost belongings.
• Finishing Echo’s quest unlocks a short fishing-style minigame, and clearing it rewards the Phantom Express Ticket. You can find the whole guide for this quest right here.
• Use the ticket to board the Phantom Express, a haunted train that departs every half hour, and ride it into the Phantom area.
• Once there, pick up the Ghost Vacuum and use it on the roaming ghosts scattered around the zone. Each one caught rewards Souls.
• Bring the collected Souls to the Souls extractor and exchange them for a Spectral Mutation consumable. It’s worth 1,000 Souls.

Because ghosts don’t always drop large amounts of Souls, expect several trips on the Phantom Express before saving up for even one consumable.

Earning a Spectral Mutation consumable doesn’t guarantee a successful mutation, as it only grants a chance to apply one. To use it:

• Open the inventory and select the egg to upgrade.
• Open that egg’s interaction menu and look for the mutation option.
• Choose to apply the Spectral Mutation and confirm the action.
• Check the egg’s mutation details afterward to see whether it took effect.

There’s a 25 percent per-attempt chance for a successful mutation on your egg, so it’s common to go through several consumables and several rounds of Soul farming before you are finally able to land it.
