Sung Jinwoo‘s biggest unexplored battle was never the one against Antares. It was what happened after he won it. Following the Monarch War, Jinwoo used the Cup of Reincarnation to reset history, then entered the Dimensional Gap to finish the fight before it could ever reach Earth.
What followed was a staggering 27 years of war from Jinwoo’s perspective, yet the original Solo Leveling story largely moved past this period rather than depicting it in detail. Now, Netmarble’s Solo Leveling: KARMA is turning that missing chapter into its central story. The 2026 roguelite action RPG finally puts Jinwoo’s lonely post-reset war under the spotlight.
Solo Leveling: KARMA Reveals Jinwoo’s 27-Year Monarch War

[Credit: Netmarble]Jinwoo’s journey from humanity’s weakest Hunter to the next Shadow Monarch eventually led him into a war far larger than the battles seen on Earth. After defeating Antares and the Monarchs, Jinwoo could not accept the catastrophic death toll left behind.
His answer was the Cup of Reincarnation, a powerful artifact that could turn back time. Jinwoo asked the Rulers to use it one final time, effectively giving humanity another chance while choosing to shoulder the Monarch conflict himself. The reset moved history back before the Gates appeared, but Jinwoo retained his memories and powers.
Jinwoo entered the Dimensional Gap, the space between worlds where time flows differently, and continued fighting the Monarchs and their forces. In the original storyline, he spent 27 years there before returning to the reset world, while far less time passed outside. While the webtoon glossed over those decades, KARMA steps directly into that blank space, following Jinwoo’s prolonged conflict through an original narrative.

KARMA is not a remake of the original Solo Leveling storyline. It is a roguelite action RPG developed by Netmarble Neo that builds an original narrative around Jinwoo’s time inside the Dimensional Gap. Netmarble first unveiled the project in 2025, describing it as an unexplored narrative window within the Solo Leveling universe (via the official site).
The game’s story revolves around Jinwoo continuing his war after the reset, while the Broken Cup of Reincarnation and fragments of his memories become part of the narrative and gameplay structure. The players recover those memory fragments to restore the broken artifact. KARMA is using the previously unexplored period to introduce new conflicts, enemies, and circumstances while connecting them to established lore.
One of the biggest additions is the Mutated, or Corrupted Hunters. Netmarble revealed them at Anime Expo 2026 as original enemies created by the Monarchs to eliminate Jinwoo. Cha Hae-In, Go Gunhee, and other familiar figures appearing as enemies should not automatically be read as the original characters literally becoming villains. Netmarble has positioned these figures as Corrupted Hunters encountered within the Dimensional Gap, making their altered appearances part of KARMA’s original storyline.
The game also deliberately brings back recognizable pieces of the original adventure, like enemies and locations associated with Jinwoo’s journey, including Cerberus, Vulcan, Baran, and the Statue of the Cartenon Temple, while familiar Shadows such as Igris and Iron are incorporated into gameplay.
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Netmarble Neo producer Jin Seong-gun said the team consulted Chugong, the original author, from the early planning stages to preserve the universe’s lore and Jinwoo’s character. TGS interviews (via Inven Global) and the official Media Showcase further stated that Chugong provided detailed supervision of the original characters and dialogue.
The Game Finally Explores What Happened After Jinwoo’s Reset

[Credit: Netmarble]The reset is often remembered as Solo Leveling’s happy ending: the dead return, Earth is spared the Monarch War, and Jinwoo eventually gets the ordinary life he fought to protect. But that peaceful world exists because Jinwoo first disappeared into the Dimensional Gap and spent 27 years fighting the war alone.
Netmarble’s September 2026 cinematic trailer explicitly returns to this lonely war, asking who is controlling the corrupted Hunters while Jinwoo continues fighting inside the Dimensional Gap.
The game is currently slated for 2026 on PC, iOS, and Android, with Netmarble publishing and Netmarble Neo developing it. As of September 2026, a specific global release date has not been announced. The project has progressed from a mysterious 2025 teaser into a substantially revealed story, with Anime Expo and Tokyo Game Show footage establishing its original characters, Corrupted Hunters, gameplay systems, and central 27-year conflict.
