A second Toronto man has been arrested and charged with murder in the mysterious 2022 slaying of businessman and father Ding Ping Wang.

Not only that, the latest person accused of the fatal shooting has also been charged with attempted murder after another man was seriously hurt in a separate shooting at the same Scarborough plaza parking lot where Wang was slain less than seven months earlier.
Toronto Police made the announcement on Thursday that they had arrested Christopher Atkins-Price, 30, earlier in the day and charged him with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with both shootings.

Motive unclear for both shootings
It was unclear how the latest arrest came about, whether any other suspects were being sought and if police had determined a motive for both shootings.
An email seeking a comment from Toronto Police on those topics was acknowledged, although the Toronto Sun had not yet received a formal response.
The charges against the second accused came more than two weeks after Justin Longshaw, 39, was arrested and charged on Aug. 24 with first-degree murder in the slaying of Wang, a 31-year-old husband and father who owned a kitchen cabinet business.

Longshaw’s arrest came about after police released a composite sketch of a suspect and new footage in July of a person doing reconnaissance in the Midland and Passmore Aves. area of north Scarborough on Nov. 11, 2022 – the day before Wang was shot to death in his vehicle.

Wang shot to death in Scarborough parking lot
Wang was approached by a man on Nov. 12, 2022, in a plaza parking lot and shot before being pronounced dead at the scene. His slaying was Toronto’s 62nd homicide of 2022.
Police said earlier this summer that Wang had no known criminal associates or enemies and that he “worked hard to support his family and build a future for them.
“Mr. Wang did not live a high-risk lifestyle,” Det.-Sgt. Sajeev Nair told reporters in July. “We know someone out there knows something.”

Suspect believed to be involved in 2023 shooting
Cops then released in August additional footage captured in the months after Wang’s slaying that included what they believe is the same suspect allegedly involved in an attempted murder on March 10.

The victim in that shooting, a 40-year-old man, was also inside a vehicle in the same plaza parking lot in the Midland-Passmore area when a gunman approached and fired “several shots” at him. The victim was able to drive away despite suffering serious injuries.
The shooter also fled from the scene.
Anyone with additional information on both shootings is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 or 222tips.com.
