The driver’s blunder, which happened on Sunday in Ruskin, was caught on police body-cam video released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office the next day.

In the clip, the deputy approaches the motorcyclist, telling him to turn off his engine.

As the cop reaches over to grab the motorcycle’s handlebars, the driver revs his engine and knocks the officer to the ground as he speeds off, throwing off his passenger in the process.

The cop gets back up and walks towards the person sitting on the ground as the motorcyclist circles back.

Following the cop’s orders, the driver gets off his ride and is handcuffed.

Officer gives light-hearted response

There’s no hard feelings from the deputy, though, as the video shows the two talking about the traffic stop while the motorcyclist is led to the back seat of a police cruiser.

The man tells the cop he was “shocked” when he saw the cop “cut in,” and then drove past him.

“Yeah, I know,” the cop replies. “‘Cause you threw me on the ground when you tried to roll away from me.”

The driver responds with, “I did?”

The cop says, “Oh yeah, that’s what happens when a bike versus a human.”

However, the charges the driver faces are serious.

The sheriff’s office said Thomas Wright, 51, was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, and fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.
