Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have been friends with Taylor Swift since at least 2015. According to US Weekly, the friendship began with Lively after it was initially rumored that she threw shade at the singer in public. The couple and the singer have been spotted together at various events in the past.

Candace Owens, the noted political commentator who is known for her conservative views, recently released a video on her channel about the controversies surrounding Reynolds and Blake Lively, especially after the complaint against her It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni and Lively’s image last year during the film’s promo tour.

Among other things, Owens criticized Reynolds for succumbing to Swift and the gang’s ‘immature’ behavior by unfollowing her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn after their breakup. Owens said in her video about how she felt Reynolds and Lively were on their high horses and were ‘rich bored people’ (via Candace Owens). She said,

[Ryan Reynolds] actually became friends with Joe Alwyn for five years…and then Taylor Swift snapped her fingers and broke up with him and the headline ran that you know she went to dinner and got photographed with Blake and Ryan. And then immediately after the dinner, Ryan and Blake…all staged a mass unfollowing of Joe Alwyn like they were 13 years old…Okay, Ryan, you’re 48 years old. Grow up. Like literally grow up.

Swift and Alwyn were reportedly together for five years before the pop star called it quits. People reported that among Reynolds and Lively, other friends and family of Swift like her brother, Gigi Hadid, and more had unfollowed Alwyn.

Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Swift’s friendship has been noted in public especially after he was seen with Blake Lively at multiple concerts during her Eras Tour. The pop star even gave a shoutout to Reynolds’ blockbuster of last year Deadpool & Wolverine, calling him her godchildren’s ‘sp*rm donor’ (via CNN).

Reynolds confirmed that Swift was actually the godparent to his daughters and that Shawn Levy was the godfather to his son. He said to Deadline,

She is the godparent to my daughters. That was very sweet. Not just sweet. You can probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that.

The film went on to earn over a billion at the box office and while the union of Reynolds and Hugh Jackman was a huge reason for its success, Swift’s promotion must have surely boosted some sales.
