Prince William is reportedly stepping up his game when it comes to mingling with Hollywood stars amid Prince Harry‘s return to the UK.

A new report claims that the future king is also taking pleasure in showing up the Duke of Sussex while primarily using the exposure to promote his charities.

This comes after Prince Harry publicly stated that he hopes to reconcile with Prince William and their father, King Charles, after their years-long bitter family rift.

William recently surprised royal fans when he made an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” to promote The Earthshot Prize.

The Prince of Wales was joined by Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, Jorja Smith, and Robert Irwin during the show, and according to sources, the move has been received positively by the palace.

“The feedback at the palace has been great, so expect more of that sort of thing,” a source told Star Magazine, before noting that William also enjoys beating Harry at the fame game.

“Obviously, the main motivation is to build support for his charities … but there’s also a certain satisfaction in showing Harry that he’s got him beat in the Hollywood popularity game,” the insider said.

Unlike Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, who seem to be struggling to maintain close ties with A-List stars, William has built strong relationships with some of the most notable celebrities in the entertainment industry, including actor Tom Cruise and global pop star Taylor Swift.

The source went on to claim that Harry has “always accused William of having a pathological need to show him up, so no doubt he’s looking at all this and taking it as more proof of how petty his brother can be.”

William, however, is said to see things differently, as the “royal family has always had Hollywood connections.”

“But he’s definitely taken things to another level in terms of how publicly he’s embracing that world,” the source added.

Prince Harry Wants To Sit Down With William And Resolve Their Differences

Away from the popularity contest, Harry reportedly believes there is still an opportunity to repair his relationship with William, despite the years of tension between them.

According to a source speaking to the Examiner, the Duke of Sussex is prepared to keep making efforts for as long as necessary in the hope of securing a face-to-face conversation with William, 44.

“Harry doesn’t see why he and William can’t sit down like adults and talk this out,” the insider said. “As far as he’s concerned, nothing that’s been said or done is unforgivable if they’re both willing to take responsibility for their part in things.”

However, the source claimed William has been unwilling to engage with his brother and has effectively ruled out the possibility of a reconciliation.

“It’s incredibly frustrating that William won’t even speak to him, especially because Harry is convinced his brother is enjoying having the upper hand,” the insider alleged. “That being said, William can ignore him all he likes. It doesn’t mean he’s going anywhere.”

The source insisted that William’s reported unwillingness to engage would not make Harry abandon his attempts.

“William can ignore him all he likes. It doesn’t mean he’s going anywhere,” the insider stated.

Despite his reported frustration with William, Harry is said to still hope that he and his brother can eventually put their differences aside.

“Of course, Harry would much rather find a way for everyone to get along,” the source continued. “He misses his brother, or at least the relationship they had at one point.”

They added, “He doesn’t want this ugliness forever, and he’s convinced that’s not what William wants either.”

“With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile — that’s the key point,” he said.

Royal commentator Hugo Vickers recently suggested that William has little intention of reconciling with Harry, pointing to the younger prince’s public criticism of his brother and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, in interviews and his memoir, “Spare.”

“If you look back at all the things that his brother has said in his book and in the interviews, insults to Catherine, his wife, you know, it’s a very damaged relationship,” he said, per The Irish Sun.

Vickers also claimed that William could be concerned that any private conversation might eventually become public: “Usually these things are done better in private than sort of throwing a challenge into the open arena, which is what it seems to be that he’s done.”

He suggested that an apology would likely be necessary before the future king considered rebuilding their relationship.
