David Corenswet, Christopher Reeve

SUMMARY

  • David Corenswet attended the New York premiere of Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.
  • He chose to promoted the documentary over his own upcoming Superman film.
  • Fans praised Corenswet's respect for Reeve's legacy, calling him "worthy" of the Superman role.

David Corenswet may have joined the DC Universe as the new Man of Steel under James Gunn’s reign, but there are still quite a few critics who just can’t see him in the same light as they did Henry Cavill. Nonetheless, at the same time, the new Clark Kent’s attempts at winning fans over simply with his outstanding personality aren’t falling short either.

This comes stronger after the latest turn of events, which saw Corenswet showing up to the premiere of Christopher Reeve’s soon-to-be-released documentary, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. If anything, the way the actor was seen supporting this documentary more than his own upcoming movie was enough to make even the toxic fans fall in love with him.

David Corenswet Yet Again Proves He’s the Perfect Superman

Even though Christopher Reeve has long been laid to rest, his star-studded legacy continues to live and leave fans baffled at his genuine remarkableness. From rising to stardom as the Superman of the ’70s to ending up paralyzed due to a tragic horse-riding accident, his forthcoming documentary Super/Man, scheduled for a limited release, will encompass his story through the same.

Recently, the documentary had its New York premiere, and a lot of actors and members of the Reeve family graced the event. During the same, Corenswet, the next Superman, was also seen dashingly present to not only attend the premiere but also support the documentary alongside DC Studios’ co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

A clip shared by @homeofdcu on X further emphasized Corenswet’s involvement in the entire matter as he was seen, in true Superman fashion, promoting the documentary before his own. As he signed the merch, a fan even remarked they couldn’t “wait to see the new movie.” To this, Corenswet responded: “This movie? Because you gotta see this movie first.”

That said, these chivalrous moves at the hands of this bulky Man of Steel are actually helping lighten the pressure of having to fill the big boots of this character left behind by Henry Cavill. To say the least, even the critics hating on Corenswet might not be able to hate him anymore after watching the actor support Reeve’s documentary with such tremendous respect.

Fans React to David Corenswet’s Undeniable Chivalry

With him trying so hard to get on the fans’ good side and have them give him a chance to prove to them that he can, in fact, actually live up to their expectations, at this point, even fans can’t deny David Corenswet‘s chivalry. If anything, a lot of them are claiming that the actor’s respect for Reeve’s legacy has already made him worthy enough of carrying the mantle forward.

Take a look for yourself at what a majority of the fans have to say about all of this on X:

Man I’m gonna miss Cavill a ton but he’s going to be such a good Supes. I can’t wait 😭

If all of this wasn’t enough, further proving his respect toward Reeve’s legacy, Corenswet even took to his Instagram handle @davidcorenswet to share the trailer of this upcoming documentary to promote it.

With all of this being put out there, looking at Corenswet’s behavior towards fans and the respect he displayed toward the iconic legacy Reeve has left behind, it comes as no doubt that the one fans got to meet and greet at the premiere was none other than one of the worthiest Superman portrayers of all time himself.

The documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story will hit the US theatres on September 21 and 25, 2024.
