In the Shonen genre, One Piece has always been a subject of praise from the fans, who have been hooked on to the anime since 1999. The series has many strengths, such as a gripping plot and a wide range of characters that fans have grown to like.

There are a few names like Zoro, Luffy, Sanji, and Trafalgar D. Water Law who have stood out in the series for playing pivotal roles and the epic battles that have followed them. However, they do not even come close to the two NPC characters, who have actively influenced the story.

Though it might sound astonishing, these two unnamed characters have been responsible for the lore, which features 1100+ episodes and is still going strong. Thus, showcasing how far ahead the mangaka thought about the Shonen series.

Not Luffy or Zoro but two NPCs are accountable for One Piece’s lore

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has come a long way since it first began, where many of us have witnessed the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his dream of becoming the next King of Pirates by finding the most alluring treasure of all, which the series has been named after, has been hid by Gol D. Roger.

However, all of this would not have taken place if two OP NPCs had not acted the way they did. This thrilling revelation was brought to everyone’s attention by an influencer (@ShesoOP), who shared a Short on their YouTube channel. They mentioned that the first NPC was the one who asked the million-dollar question to Roger, “Where’s the One Piece?”

Had he not asked about the treasure, it would have remained a “myth forever,” and his answer of leaving the treasure at a “certain location” sparked an uproar among people thus leading to the moment that commenced the Great Pirate Era. This led to countless pirates setting out on a journey, including the Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, to set sail and fulfill his dream.

This creator emphasized for everyone to imagine if the NPC had not asked the question to Roger. Then Luffy would not have known about the treasure, and the “journey wouldn’t exist.” Speaking of journey, this brings forth the second NPC, the one who carried the barrel containing our hero.

Many would not have thought about this moment when they picked up the barrel that contained Luffy. The YouTuber explained that this moment was the foundation of the story. Had they been busy and not paid attention to the barrel, then our hero would have either drowned or starved to death in the ocean.

Thus, if the two unknown characters had not acted the way they did back, fans would not have had the series that features the most alluring tale of all.

One Piece community can’t thank the two NPCs enough for their actions

Though Oda-Sensei was originally behind the storyline, where he was primarily responsible for chalking out the plot. However, the fandom is so emotionally invested in the series that each character works on their own and impacts the overall story.

With ShesoOP pointing out these two events, everyone was taken aback and could not stop themselves from praising their action, which they didn’t think much about. The fans commented,
