One Piece has officially gone on another short hiatus, and the manga will not return until Chapter 1192 drops on September 6, 2026 (as per Manga Plus by Shueisha). While this break can be frustrating for a lot of fans, considering what just went down in the manga, it comes right after one of the most eventful weeks in the anime’s recent history.

Between a shocking chapter cliffhanger and two brand-new movie announcements, Eiichiro Oda’s world has rarely felt this stacked with news at once. So before the wait truly sets in, here’s a look at the three biggest reveals that dropped just before the break, and everything you need to know about each one, including possible reasons why Eiichiro Oda is taking frequent breaks.

One Piece Chapter 1191 Delivers a Cliffhanger as Imu Unleashes A New Form

The latest chapter before the break left fans on an intense cliffhanger, as we saw Imu reveal a terrifying new form, growing massive in size with huge horns and dark arms, an appearance that is fueling many more theories in the fanbase.

Making things even bigger, Luffy, Loki, and Hajrudin joined forces for the first time and unleashed a combined attack called Gokoku Sovereignty against Imu, but the chapter ended before showing the result.

Now, fans will have to wait for Chapter 1192, arriving September 6, 2026, to find out if the attack actually worked. The chapter is also expected to touch on Gaban’s condition after he lost an arm protecting Luffy, and possibly offer more clarity on what Imu’s new form actually is.

One Piece Film: God Valley Confirmed – The Battle Fans Have Waited For

During ONE PIECE DAY ‘26, the franchise confirmed its next movie, One Piece Film: God Valley, set to release in summer 2027. The announcement lines up with the manga’s own 30th anniversary that year, and it finally gives fans a full-length adaptation of one of the most important and mysterious events in the story of this anime.

The God Valley Incident, first properly shown through the Loki flashback in the manga, brought together Rocks D. Xebec, Gol D. Roger, and a young Monkey D. Garp in one of the greatest battles ever depicted. This is also going to be the first-ever canon movie in this franchise.  

The manga actually never properly showed what happened in the event, which makes it mysterious. So, the movie is expected to expand on the scale of the fight and flesh out moments that were only briefly shown on the page.

One Piece Film: BAAD Set for 2029 to Mark the Anime’s 30th Anniversary

This is probably the most unique and mysterious announcement by the franchise. Right after the God Valley reveal, the franchise dropped a second surprise: One Piece Film: BAAD, which is scheduled for 2029. Unlike the God Valley movie, we know almost nothing about this project. There are no plot details, no proper release window other than the year, not even whether it is going to be canon or not.

Why is Oda Taking So Many Frequent Breaks in Recent Years?

With two movies, a manga hiatus, and a packed release calendar all happening around the same time, it’s fair to say that Oda probably has a lot on his plate right now. Beyond the manga itself, there’s a new anime adaptation by Wit Studio in production, two upcoming films, a live-action franchise on Netflix, and even a recent Nike collaboration (as per Nike).

None of this can be stated as a confirmed reason for the frequent breaks, but it could be that juggling this many projects at once simply demands more breathing room for the creator behind all of it. It could also be that Oda, now deep into the final saga, wants extra time to make sure each chapter lands exactly as intended.

Either way, with so much riding on One Piece right now, a short pause before the next chapter might be exactly what the story needs.
