While this almost feels even cynical to think about, a certain One Piece scenario recently crossed our minds: what if there was a sudden announcement that Luffy was to be executed at Marineford? Maybe he somehow got lured with spiked food and got caught by the Marines, who will definitely plan to execute him, a Yonko.

And since Sakazuki’s in charge, he’ll definitely choose Marineford to add an extra layer of humiliation. How do you think the Straw Hat Pirates, his crew, would react to this news? Let’s check out a rough scope of possible reactions from them, as well as a few other non-crew members who will also absolutely lose it after hearing the news.

1 Zoro Would Literally Sacrifice Himself to Protect Luffy

There’s absolutely no doubt that Roronoa Zoro, Luffy’s first mate, would go absolutely berserk after hearing this news. The “King of Hell” is absolutely coming out, and he would slash through every single Marine that stands between him and the podium Luffy is chained to. However, Zoro’s dedication goes beyond cutting down the enemies.

During both the Wano Country Arc and the Thriller Bark Arc, we saw how Zoro jumped in front of Kaido and Bartholomew Kuma to protect Luffy. So it’s safe to say that Zoro would do anything and everything he can to protect Luffy, maybe even jump under the guillotine to save Luffy’s neck.

2 Nami Would Unleash the Full Wrath of Zeus on the Marines

Nami and Luffy shared everything from the very beginning – pain, hunger, and a life that felt lost without parents – she would be absolutely furious after hearing the news. Her anger would mostly be towards Luffy for doing something careless and getting caught in the first place, until she breaks down into tears.

She’d then wipe her tears and load up Zeus with as many weather balls as she could. Once she reaches Marineford, it would be like Enel himself has appeared. The sky will rumble with Zeus’s relentless attacks and lightning strikes that clear out the Marine regiment. She doesn’t need to hold back as well, since Luffy is already rubber.

3 Sanji Would Load Up His Leg and Burn Through the Marine Ranks

The news will instantly break Vinsmoke Sanji, and he will find a way to blame himself for the capture. The depression will further kick in when he remembers the Whole Cake Island Arc, where Luffy fought for him and even starved himself until Sanji rejoined the crew.

And then comes the cigarette that lights up in his lips – Sanji would literally fly into Marineford and start dishing out Ifrit and Diable Jambe left and right. He wouldn’t care what happens to him; his captain is all that matters. He would clear out flocks of Marines until there were none left.

4 Usopp Might Man Up and Lead the Charge to Save His Brother

Usopp always acted as the captain of the ship, but actually cowered away in fear whenever real danger came near them. However, Luffy isn’t just Usopp’s captain; they are brothers. From jumping at the idea of going to Elbaph Island to fighting each other without holding back, the two of them shared an inseparable bond.

Usopp will finally put on his big-boy pants and take the reins of Thousand Sunny and charge towards Marineford. An entire regiment of Marines awaits Usopp – but he’s not scared anymore. He takes out his slingshot and takes out the Marines left and right from the ship. In proximity, Usopp will likely fade no matter what.

5 Chopper Would Go Full Monster Point Mode to Save Luffy

Luffy and Tony Tony Chopper have one of the weirdest relationships among the Straw Hat Pirates: Luffy literally calls him “Emergency Food” and even tries to eat the ship’s doctor. However, the bond between them is something we can’t forget, especially during the Skypiea Arc. Chopper jumped in to save a drowning Luffy, despite not being able to swim and needing to be saved.

Chopper would take out as many Rumble Balls as he needs until he reaches his Monster Point. He would wreak havoc at Marineford, crushing the barricades and the Marines behind them. There won’t be any stopping him until and unless he dies or his Rumble Balls run out trying to save his captain and best friend.

6 Robin Would Unleash Her Demonio Fluer on the Marines in Pain

Nico Robin won’t cry when she hears the news; she will completely break down. Her mind will immediately rush to Enies Lobby when Luffy not only comes to rescue her, but also declares war against the World Government, the same people responsible for the destruction of her home, Ohara. But she’ll soon wipe her tears and stand up.

After reaching Marineford, she wouldn’t even waste a second to unleash her Demonio Fluer. Now we all know how powerful that is when Black Maria paid the price for rage-baiting her in the Wano Country Arc. The Demonio Fluer will crush through the Marines and even break the bindings that held Luffy in place for his execution.

7 Jinbe Would Grab the Sun Pirates and Charge Towards Marineford

Jinbe won’t even wait for a second; he was always sworn to protect Luffy, even with his own life, as we saw during the Marineford Arc. He would immediately turn Thousand Sunny towards Marineford with eyes full of rage. And he’s not going there alone.

Luffy has always helped the Fishman and they saw a hope of liberation in the Straw Hat captain. With just one word, the entire Sun Pirates would arrive to assist Jinbe as they storm into Marineford. A barrage of Fishman Karate would annihilate the Marines – leaving a path for them to free Luffy.

8 Brook’s Painful Memories of Loss Will Fire Him Up to Protect Luffy

While Brook is usually a happy skeleton, the news will completely devastate him. The painful memories of the Rumbar Pirates will flood in for him – he already lost a captain and his crew once; he can’t afford to lose his Straw Hat captain.

He would jump into the battle without a single thought – piercing and freezing through the ranks as he charges towards the podium. Being a skeleton and immortal, Brook won’t even hesitate to run into enemies if he has to; whatever it takes to save his captain.

9 Franky Will Make the Marines Feel the Power of General Franky

While it may not look like much, Franky and his captain, Monkey D. Luffy, actually have a very deep bond. It was Luffy who dared Franky to dream again and become the Straw Hats’ shipwright. Franky would be completely devastated by the news, and then the cyborg would jump into action.

Using his General Franky mecha, the shipwright will pummel through the ranks of the Marines and fire missiles until he clears out a path. He won’t just stop there – with Tom’s death still lingering in his dark memories, Franky would launch everything he has, until there’s nothing left.

Many non-crew members wouldn’t waste a second when the news reaches their ears, from his foster brother Sabo to his devoted follower Bartolomeo, everyone will rush to Marineford with whatever they have until they free Luffy:

• Boa Hancock – She won’t wait a minute after she hears the news of her lover’s execution; she will gather all the Kuja Pirates and sail to Marineford immediately.
• Red-Haired Shanks – Hearing Luffy’s news, Shanks won’t waste a second; he’ll rush to Marineford, no matter who comes with him or not.
• Sabo – Sabo has already lost one brother at Marineford; he can’t afford to lose another. He will take the entire Revolutionary Army, including Luffy’s father Dragon, and march to Marineford.
• Nefertari Vivi – Vivi would have a complete breakdown from the news. While she’s not strong like the rest of the names, she’ll still go to Marineford with courage – a trait Luffy taught her.
• Bartolomeo – He’s Luffy’s absolute devotee and worships the Straw Hat captain. Once the news reaches him, the entire Straw Hat Grand Fleet is coming to take over Marineford.
