Avengers: Doomsday is fast approaching, and fans are growing excited about when the trailer might drop. A pivot from the planned Kang Dynasty storyline that the MCU had been building towards, Doctor Doom is going to be the chief antagonist going forward. Fans are expecting to see the length and breadth of Marvel adaptations to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, especially with Fox’s version of Marvel characters, like the X-Men, confirmed for the film.
This opens the floor to other cameos, and Doctor Doom is surely going to need all the help he can get to keep the heroes and his Battleworld in line. Here are six villains from Marvel’s various television shows set inside the MCU who could aid Doom not only in his conquest, but also in his reign come Avengers: Doomsday. They are ranked by how much of an ally they can be for Doom against the Avengers.
6 Killgrave/ Purple Man Could Aid Doctor Doom in Controlling the Masses
David Tennant played Killgrave in Jessica Jones || Credit: Marvel Television Killgrave, played to perfection by David Tennant of Doctor Who and Good Omens fame, was the villain who set the register for Netflix’s side of the MCU. A considerably darker villain, Killgrave’s ability to control people using his pheromones might be something Doctor Doom can leverage to keep the common folk and heroes in line. While there are wholly other abilities that might be accessible to Doom, imagining the return of David Tennant as one of the MCU’s most sinister villains is worth figuring out how to bring him back for the role.
5 Ammit’s Morality Might Be Something Doom Could Manipulate
Ammit was an Avengers-level threat all by herself || Credit: Marvel Television Moon Knight is one of the few characters that Marvel absolutely needs to follow up with more. Ammit is a villain that Doom could employ to build out Battleworld. In many ways, it would not be surprising to see Doom employ an Egyptian goddess to strengthen his magic, and his goals of seeing the world united under him for its own betterment seem to align with Ammit’s own fascistic underpinnings. What’s more, this would allow Oscar Isaac to suit up as Moon Knight once more, and possibly make an appearance in Secret Wars.
4 Maximus Could Bring The Inhumans Back Ahead of Reset
With Black Bolt back, The Inhumans can be a very real part of Doomsday || Credit: Marvel Television If Black Bolt can return in the MCU, there is no reason to believe that the Inhumans can’t either. The property was first tied to the Fantastic Four, so it would not be too much of a stretch to include Maximus in the story, who could have cut a deal with Doom to spare the Inhumans, in the hopes of ruling them as one of Doom’s lieutenants. The inclusion of Maximus would purely just give Doom another capo to use against the heroes, who are numerous. Further, Maximus is one of the smartest characters that the Inhumans have, which could really buff up Doctor Doom’s team in terms of strategy.
3 Helmut Zemo Could Be the Best Ally Doom Could Hope for
Zemo was the only villain who had successfully defeated the Avengers and lived to tell the tale. There is no doubt that the character still harbors resentment against the Avengers, given what they did to his family, even if it is a separate team. Having Zemo return could add another cerebral angle to Doom’s conquest of the MCU and its adjacent timelines. Given the character’s capacity to retrieve and use valuable information, Doom might use Zemo’s military background to have him infiltrate key locations, serving as the master of his spy network. What’s another secret spy network growing underground for Steve Rogers to punch?
2 He Who Remains Could Be Recast as a Lieutenant of Dom
He Who Remains could return, re-cast || Credit: Marvel Television Jonathan Majors might be gone, but that doesn’t mean Kang the Conqueror has to be. I would even advocate that he is still a viable villain for the next phase, if Marvel chooses to go that route. Even though Kang the Conqueror has been wrecked many times in Marvel, he still deserves a fair chance. And Doomsday would be the perfect introduction for such a character. He could be a protege of Doom this time around, perhaps even Franklin Richards himself, as opposed to Nathaniel Richards, who is a descendant of Reed through Franklin. The ‘reset’ that Feige has in mind allegedly means to keep whatever he can, while scrapping everything since Endgame (and maybe before) that has not worked. Kang needs to be a part of that structuring, given what an important villain he is in the MCU.
1 Mephisto Made His Debut- So the MCU ‘MUST’ Use Him
Sacha Baron Cohen finally brought Mephisto to the MCU || Credit: Marvel Television Post-Endgame, given the heavy focus on Wanda that the MCU had, Mephisto was front and center as the possible next big villain that the heroes of the MCU are going to have to face. However, the character did not show up until Ironheart, a show Marvel was barely able to bill at the same level as WandaVision, Moon Knight, and Loki. While this might have been a disappointing introduction for the character, Doomsday might be able to do him and the actor behind him justice several times over. Further, including him in Doomsday could function similarly to that of Kang- introducing the next big threat that the Avengers could face.
| Villian | Debut | Actor |
| Killgrave | Jessica Jones Season 1 | David Tennant |
| Ammit | Moon Knight | Sofia Danu (voice) and Saba Mubarak (performer) |
| Maximus | Inhumans | Iwan Rheon |
| Helmut Zemo | Captain America: Civil War | Daniel Bruhl |
