One Piece Episode 1157 Review: Elbaf’s Chaos Escalates With Confusion and Comedy

I went into this episode anticipating answers and left with even more questions, but also a good amount of fun in the meantime. Episode 1157 of One Piece was chaotic to an extreme, but in a way that kept me engaged with the screen most of the time because I wanted to see what weird thing would happen next.

The story did not slow down so much after the chaotic start of the Elbaf arc last week. Instead, it leaned further into confusion with the introduction of all the giant creatures, possible hallucinations, and a setting that does not make any sense. It truly felt like Elbaf was messing with the Straw-Hats and us. Let us explore in detail.

Nami and Usopp Steal the One Piece Episode 1157

This One Piece episode belongs to both Nami and Usopp; I am not even going to pretend otherwise. The moment Nami wakes up in that castle with no clue where she is, I instantly felt that “okay, something is very wrong here” vibe. From there, it just becomes more and more chaotic. Giant creatures coming out of nowhere? Sure. Usopp running for his life from a giant cat? Why not. Every few seconds, something new comes up, making the situation even more ridiculous.

What I really loved here is how One Piece goes fully into its chaotic comedy. Usopp trying to convince himself that everything is just a hallucination because of the alcohol was honestly hilarious – and for a moment, I almost believed him too, until a cat actually hit him, and that theory goes out the window immediately. I actually laughed out loud at that moment.

And of course, Nami using Usopp as a shield? Classic One Piece moment. It is these little character moments that make the madness feel even more fun. Even in total confusion, their personalities stay so consistent, and that is what makes these scenes work so well.

Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji Quickly Bring Things Under Control

When things have gotten completely out of hand, our Monster Trio arrives, and yeah, it was satisfying as you would expect. As soon as Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji show up, the mood completely changes. That giant lion (which, by the way, used to be a cat – yeah, I am still not over that) was taken out almost immediately.

It was one of those moments where you are reminded, “Oh right, these guys are insanely strong.” After that, I think one of the funniest parts was how each one of them addressed the situation in such a casual way. Luffy was busy talking about food, Sanji was busy paying attention to Nami, and Zoro was the only one who seemed to be thinking about what they should do next. Meanwhile, I am still trying to process what I just watched.

Even though they were in control of the situation, they clearly had no better understanding of what was going on than Nami and Usopp. And I like that. The strength is there, but the mystery is not going anywhere.

One Piece Episode 1157 Slows Things Down Just a Little

As this Episode 1157 of One Piece ends, it does make me realize something else – it really was not so much about giving us answers. Rather, it was about throwing us deeper into Elbaf’s weirdness. The whole thing still feels off to me – the environment, the creatures, the way the crew got separated, even the clothes – they all hint that something bigger is happening behind the scenes.

It does not feel like a simple hallucination anymore, but the episode does not confirm anything either. To be completely honest, I am fine with all of that! I thought this episode was entertaining, chaotic, and somewhat unpredictable enough to keep my attention throughout. If this is the kind of energy Elbaf is bringing, then we are in for a really wild ride.

Right now, I do not fully understand what is going on – and that is exactly why I cannot wait for the next episode.
