The One Piece anime is generally known for its gorgeous animation and on-point action sequences. So key animation scenes often go viral due to their quality, and something similar happened to a clip from episode 1092. But this time, an incredibly well-animated action sequence went viral for a surprising reason.

The clip in question shows Jewelry Bonney kicking away Luffy to save him from being hit by a blast from the Pacifista. The sequence is just half a minute long, yet it shows incredible mastery of the craft of animation. From the impact of Bonney’s kick to the Pacifista’s explosive attack as well as Luffy being winded from the kick, everything has been demonstrated perfectly.

The key animator of the scene is Anikari, a 17-year-old animator whose real name is Yutaka Nakamura. Several tweets have emerged to praise the teenager for his incredible work and his mastery over the craft at such a tender age. Being hired to animate a sequence for One Piece is no joke by itself, and doing such an incredible job at it was completely unexpected.

By the looks of Anikari’s progress, it is almost a given that he will grow up to be a treasure of the Japanese animation industry in the future. So far, he has created key animations for 5 episodes of One Piece as well as provided the second key animation for episode 1086. He has also previously worked as a key animator in the VSPO!×Cardfight!! Vanguard Animation PV ONA.

Anikari has received countless praises from One Piece fans for his work, and despite the language barrier, he has tried his best to respond. The animator has responded via his X account by sharing that while he didn’t understand some of the details, he was taught by some kind people. He also showed his resolve to draw even better and keep improving.

Fans have tweeted various praises for the teen, and some have even expressed their jealousy comically. Not everyone can achieve such expertise at an incredibly young age as Anikari, which makes his work even more praiseworthy. Now that he has been revealed to the limelight, all eyes will be locked to see his next works.

One Piece manga is available to read on Viz Media, and the anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
