The Seii Army Lured Into the Trap Orchestrated by Aoteru Misumi
The Episode opened as usual, with the continuation of the announcement from Asama that Ryumon and his men are not going to receive any reinforcements from Episode 11. While the men started to panic, a frail yet still standing Kaku entered the tent and supported the decision that came from the capital. Ryumon didn’t argue with him, and he immediately rallied the troops for a retreat.
Meanwhile, Wajima is informed about Ryumon and Kaku’s retreat through Yasuke Konoura. Konoura further convinced Wajima that this had something to do with Denki Taira, given the perception that he was the only one who could coerce or control the Emperor’s commands. He further pushed the agenda of chasing after Ryumon and Kaku immediately and killing them before dealing with any reinforcement interception Taira had in mind. Without delay, Wajima took every Seii soldier at her disposal and joined the part that was already chasing Ryumon – bringing the Seii soldier count to 15,000.
However, as soon as they entered the valley, Kaku and Misumi’s plan – “The Ota Scrapped Car Ambush” – was put into effect, and every Seii soldier was crushed. Konoura pushed away Wajima to save her and, in return, lost his own life. Ohga Wajima was then taken into custody by Ryumon, and the Seii vs. Yamato battle officially ended. Or so we thought.
A Twist That Changes the New World Forever
Wajima’s death in Nippon Sangoku | Credits: Studio KafkaA month later, after peace was negotiated between the two countries, a tragedy struck – or more like a plan succeeded from the man behind the shadows, Denki Taira. While Kaku had died after the war due to his illness, news immediately broke out to Misumi and Asama that Wajima had been assassinated on her way back to Seii by a group of allegedly Seii soldiers. However, it was Taira behind the planning, and he framed Ryumon for the assassination and had the hero of the war imprisoned.
Furthermore, he arrested 34 members of the Borderland General Corps and imprisoned them, including Aoteru Misumi, the person responsible for Yamato’s victory against Seii. Additionally, the Emperor was made a symbol, stripped of all his powers, while Denki Taira held the mantle of the Yamato nation. He stated another war against Seii – all the while, Misumi sat in his prison cell, planning his fight against the rotten nation led by the tyrant Denki Taira.
Nippon Sangoku Episode 12 Overall Review
Aoeteru Misumi from Nippon Sangoku | Credits: Studio KafkaFrom start to finish, the Episode 12 finale was an epic saga of war narrative in anime. From the placement of every individual in the right places to the massive twist that shook both the nations of Yamato and Seii – everything fell into place – creating what we can only call an “Absolute Cinema”. It set the perfect tone for what’s about to come, especially for a second season that will likely be filled with vengeance and even more brutal war strategies.
From a technical standpoint, we have to give a hat’s off to Studio Kafka; they truly outdid themselves in the production and animation of the season finale. To top that, the unreleased track by Kevin Penkin, starting at 7:27 minutes, added the perfect ambience and jazzy flavor to the end of an army. Overall, the anime finale was an absolutely perfect blend of everything, urging us to watch it over and over again.
